Did covid bring out the worst or the best in people?

I personally feel a lot of companies were given the opportunity to profit off a devastating situation in a very arrogant manner. Making a donation as a tax write-off to your local hospital looks better than a YouTube video about your best staff/employees getting vaccinated.

There are too many unknowns.

I would call it sobering, with the ironic yet expected, world record alcohol sales. Like Jenny Gump's moment where she says "I was messed up for a long time: as a society we put down the proverbial cocaine, walked back from the ledge, and died of AIDS on a 'sa' 'adey moain' People were what they always were, desperate to do what it takes to meet their needs. Which may include acts which encourage tit-for-tat reciprocity.

That's not a condemnation, that's how it is. There's a whole field of psychology around altruism, which will be disappointing if you thought human life was valuable or life was worth living, or anything like that...
