I was in a car accident, and I passed out.. I have flashbacks of paramedics tearing my clothes... ?

I was in a car accident a month ago. I have POTS so i tend to easily get light headed and faint ocassionally. I have flashbacks of the accident. I remember that I regained consciousness while I was on the floor.. I remember it was freezing cold and just remember seeing paramedics on both sides and just my clothes being torn and just feel the cold.. Its only a small snapshot because I did pass out.. I am scared to drive again and I haven't driven. I did injure my back and got whiplash and a shoulder injury but ill be ok... i feel anxious about the whole thing but i also feel embarassed by them seeing me without my clothes... do they usually do this??

Typically they use scissors,  unless tearing is faster.

All these people are  interested in is your well being Nothing more they have to remove cloths to assist the damage that may be present so they can start to help get you better. Cloths cover up injuries and get in the way of a lot of treatments. Its also a time factor to see all injuries as soon as possible so the cloths go first these people are highly skilled  and trained in these type issues they are NOT  assessing your body in any way they see human bodies all day. Its nothing new for them at all.

These people are critical to anyone for their survival and recovery.

There must be rapid and adequate exposure for all necessary and appropriate care. They also get a person out of pain and relaxed so they can work on them if need be till they get to the hospital.

The last thing on their minds is looking at you without clothes. All they care about is saving your life and making sure you survive.

Yes, they did the same thing to me after an accident. They cut off my favourite sweater. I was disappointed about that.

They cut your clothes off because they need to monitor your vital sings and get an iv tube into you as quickly as possible.

By the way, if the accident was not your fault, you might want to sue the driver of the other car. Get yourself a personal injury lawyer.

The firemen used an electric scissors thing to cut my clothes off.  That included my Kevlar jacket, which surprised me.  I would 'a' thought that the Kevlar would have been too tough to cut with their little electric scissors.

They left me with my underpants, so... okay.

Yes, they often have to take people's clothes off. Trust me- they're too busy saving your life to pay much attention. Now- it's quite common for people not to remember much after a car accident. It's probably nature's protection. I hope you're not saying that you got faint and that's what caused the accident! If that's the case, you shouldn't be driving.
