It appears that you are trying to find an identity.  Don't adapt to someone else's definition of your identity by adopting a "subculture".  Be yourself by being honest with yourself about yourself, then make the effort to develop you individual knowledge, skills, and abilities.  You will find that do not need to adopt a group, your fate will present itself in the best possible light.
