IF you can’t reach your vet, call around to other vets!   I sincerely hope your problem has been resolved by the time you read this.  

Metal and horses are never a good mix. If this story is true there's nothing you can do accept keep trying and call an emergency vet. I doubt this is true. You think your horse dislocated his jaw but you have time to come on here and ask a question. 

I'm so sorry.  That sounds horrific.

I would have put my horse in the trailer and taken her to the brick & mortar equine hospital.  

I have no clue, but I'm guessing whatever diagnostics/treatment is recommended may be too advanced for a house call anyways.

If this horse is appropriate to give lessons on, he doesn't need a lead shank.   Rope halter and blocker tie ring ought to be sufficient or simply teach the horse to ground tie. 

The more stories like this I read, the more I appreciate my teacher.  I hope your horse recovers well.

There really isn't anything anyone here can do, that sounds like a very serious injury. Hopefully you've got your vet out by now. If not, call around to other vets.
