Why do some people value defiance over rationality?

individual>society

freedom to>freedom from

hate>love

mistakes cooperation for compliance

compromise vs consensus

believes in conspiracy theories (anything they can think of is true)

Dunning Kruger Syndrome.

    If they have committed a serious crime that has not been revealed, they commit the next crime unpaid until they have escaped.

    They think they can cheat the intrusion of an unpleasant reality by "refusing delivery" of it.

    Poor parenting.  Didn't get spanked when they needed it when they were 5 years old.

    Since the average person tends to be quite "shallow", it's usually for PSYCHOLOGICAL  [emotional] and SOCIAL reasons rather than philosophical ones. Ask in the sociology and psychology forums.
