Can we get contracted by covid-19 all over again every time we get recovered from the virus?

Like every time we get recovered from covid - 19, do will we still get contracted by the virus all over again until we die?

A study by the British Journal Medicine published two months ago was able to identify only 31 cases worldwide where people that recovered from Covid-19 got infected a second time.   So that puts the odds of reinfection within a time frame from one month to a year at 31 out of 125 million.  So, roughly 1 out of every 4 million people might be reinfected within a year.

As far as I’m aware, nothing prevents you from getting reinfected.

Hopefully it’ll become a endemic like the common cold or the flu where it doesn’t become a huge problem in the future.

You can get covid again when the IgG and IgM antibodies decrease below a therapeutic level.  For people with mild cases of covid, this is usually happening around 4 months after recovery but can be as short as 2 months afterwards.

People with more severe infections of covid, their antibodies are lasting at least a year (all the data that is available now).

No one knows yet, but you'll probably have to have an annual COVID-vaccine the way people get annual flue vaccines.
