Why does Essex get a bad rep by the English news media?

Even I have over criticized Essex but after a recent check of places like Barking/Upminister/Ilford/Romford/Chelmesford/Basildon. I have found that most places in Essex seems to be pretty down to Earth and not as racist nor fake nor pretentious as I thought (Excluding the football club West Ham, which is an anomaly of the good things of Essex).

1. The Essex Girls and Women are really down to Earth and fun, including the migrant ones. No fakey 'polite' behaviour like that of West London/SW postcodes and Wimbledon etc.

2. Middle class Essex people in places like Upminister don't have the fake mainstream middle class cultural behaviour of places like Tooting/Clapham and general posh areas of South East.

3. Working class culture dominates over any middle class norms all over Essex.

4. Not fake like most of Surrey and Buckinghamshire. More structural than Kent.

5. Seems to have a shield of armour against the possible gentrification horde for the coming decades

For the past year ALL news has been about the Pandemic.

I must have missed the bad news about Essex.

I remember once scrolling through the TV channels and my jaw dropped to the floor when I stopped on TOWIE.  Once I discovered what I landed on, I made sure never to watch it again. If that ain't a big pile of fakeness, I don't know what is.
