Does the Canon EF-S 10-18mm have a silent motor?

    As it states within it's name, the Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens uses an STM motor which is extremely quite if not silent depending upon the ambient noise level.

    That lens has the STM spec. Compared to past AF lenses from long ago it's much more quiet. If you believe Canon, they say it's "near-silent".
