Incinerate plastics here or recycle with transport?
Hi. I've just moved to a remote area where plastics aren't recycled but get burnt to produce hot water for part of the community. Is it best to burn my waste plastics for this, or should I save them all up for when I next have to do the 500 mile drive home and recycle them there? Not sure what the greenest/least bad option would be. Thanks
Forgot to say that the heating plant has filters to remove a lot of the smoke and fumes from entering the atmosphere and they use the collected parts for building materials.

Many plastics produce very toxic fumes when burned so without a very expensive and sophisticated scrubber, the risk to humans is great.
The best solution is to stop using plastics and go back to glass, waxed cartons, paper, and plant based polymers.
Recycling programs are massive money pits that never turn a profit or even break even.
