Why did Ghostbusters Answer The Call fail?
Do you think any Ghostbusters sequel \ reboot is doomed to fail? There have been many, many successful sequels, some after many years have passed (the recent Bill & Ted for example). Growing up I loved the Ghostbusters cartoons and comic books.
Jack: I didn't notice hot girls in the Bill & Ted movie (do you mean the kids? I don't notice hot 12YOs); it made me laugh a lot and didn't feel forced or unnatural like the Ghostbusters movie. It had a mix of strong male and strong female leads so I don't feel it was sexist. I definitely feel it wasn't an unsuccessful flop the way the two Ghostbusters sequel were. But if you don't like it, we'll agree to disagree.
If you're referring to 'Missy' the hot mom, she was barely in the first two films, and even less in number 3.

Ghostbusters fans have been clamoring for more since the release of the first film. Much like you, I enjoyed the first movie and the cartoon based on it, the second film, not so much, but at least it continued with the characters the fans had come to know and love. By the time 2016 rolled around, the original cast had aged (as people tend to do!), and sadly, Ivan Reitman had passed away. It looked hopeless for anything theatrical to be released showcasing the Ghostbusters, but then what happened? A reboot. Not a continuation, not even a spin-off, but an entire reboot. But then to go further, a reboot that seemingly flipped everything on its head.
I can appreciate the need for something fresh to breathe new life (pun intended) into the franchise, but it seriously had none of the redeeming qualities of the original movie (chemistry between the cast, subtle humor along with overt slapstick, surprisingly revolutionary special effects, etc.) and it honestly felt like it had a series of boxes it needed to have checked-off, with the story being secondary or an afterthought. All that would have been just reason to be disappointed, but then what did the director and some of the main cast do? They actually insulted the established fanbase! Called us "sexist" and "racist", told fans to F*** themselves. Gee, I guess they convinced me to like it after all...
The new film, "Afterlife" is a continuation of the story with the characters from the first two films and cartoon series, and is directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan. It looks good. The original cast is frankly too old to reprise their roles in their former capacity, so it makes sense to introduce "new blood" into the main roles, but this looks like it is handling it better than the reboot, and I don't care what gender or ethnicity the new characters are, so long as it tells a good story and can continue with the established lore and history. Maybe it could even include some of the characters to the later cartoon series, "Extreme Ghostbusters" in some capacity. It also helps that the director hasn't told anybody to F themselves (yet!).

you....liked the new bill and ted movie...in a lot of ways it was worse than the ghostbusters movie...i think you are tainted by sexism...because there are not hot girls in ghostbusters...but there is one in bill and ted
