How do I read and effectively make notes out of the NCERTs for the UPSC as a beginner?

Before going through Ncerts read the syllabus first very carefully. Remember, never makes notes from NCERTs in the first reading, you will end up covering the whole Book only. In the first Reading Just read and mug up the main points. Please read Ncerts subject wise. Make sure you identifying imp topics. I personally believe that notes should be made in the end and it should be as small as possible. 

Don’t spend too much time or effort on it. Take notes with subheadings for better clarity and faster revision. Understand what UPSC expects you to know in each subject and then take notes. I found free PDFs are available on crackIAS website which is important from UPSC point of view. That will be very helpful for me.
