Algae in fish tank?

Question

We have a 6.8 oz tank for our beta with a filter and heater and noticed there's a lot of algae growing in it. The algae grows back within a couple of days after cleaning and becomes a problem if not regularly managed. There's a few decorative items in the tank, and we're working on getting a plant since our previous one died. Is there anyway to stop the algae from growing, or is it inevitable? Are there pros and cons to the algae being there? Thank you.

It’s overactive alge growth we found the amount of light the tank gets has a direct coronation to how fast the Alfa is growing.

My second tank I ever owned was set up in the dining room, it got sun from the east and southern windows.  The tank would be totally green by late afternoon daily, there was green algae water, green glass solidly on two sides.   I loved being able to grow any plant in abundance however there was simply too much green, the decorations all grew long fuzzy green beards.  It didn’t matter how I cleaned them, the combination of light, fish and air circulation made the perfect formula for growing alge.

I broke down my tank, cleaned everything one more time, fully changed out the water then set up the tank in the northern window, no direct sunlight.  I and I changed the source of light- type of lightbulb I had for the tank also made a big difference.  I solved the alge mystery in my tank.

Try either moving the tank or blocking off some of the light the tanks 
Cox getting. That should help with some of your alge overgrowth.
