Should I go the CC route for this?

Question

I went to a community college to obtain my 60 semester units to transfer. I was going to apply to a state university but now I am having my doubts. The majors I am interested in are impacted. They said that if I want to get into nursing, that it would probably be easier to attend a community college program instead. They even said I could do a dual program with a cal state as well while at community college.

My biggest interests are nursing, journalism, and criminal justice. I like all three but I think nursing would give me the biggest edge in having a solid and rewarding career. Now I am not sure what to do?

I would apply to multiple programs and see where you are accepted.  You can be a Registered Nurse (RN) with either an ASN/ADN (offered at community colleges) or a BSN (offered at 4-year colleges and universities).  But you can also usually get your ASN/ADN and then pursue an RN-BSN program down the road if that's what you want to do.

Apply to the RN nursing programs at local community colleges as well as Cal States. Go where you're accepted.

On YA, there are a number of internet trolls who endlessly post the same question.  In your case, you have been posting variations of this story for years. With YA shutting down, I recommend you begin to face reality.  You never went to CC, never earned an associates degree, never applied to a university, and never were accepted to one.  Its really pathetic, and you need to get on the right track in life.  Seek mental health counseling if you continue to have the compulsion to post this nonsense.

Who is the "they" that told you this? Do you understand the different levels of nursing? Community colleges often have programs that make you an LPN. You can work in a doctor's office then, taking blood pressure and pulse measurements. To be an RN, you need a more complete program. That may be what they meant by a dual program, although I don't see how you could finish both programs at the same time. There are many accelerated nursing programs now that take one year if you already have a bachelor's degree, as long as you have taken some science courses. I know someone who had a math degree and got her nursing degree in 1 year. So you could major in anything. You don't have to decide now. Get your general education courses done at the CC- English, math, a social science, a language, etc. Then you can figure out which way you want to go.
