Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Have you noticed that Yahoo is picking and choosing what news stories can be commented on?  Only the most innocuous stories have comments?

So much for "safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions."  Yahoo is 100% trying to muzzle any pushback against the their content.

Update:

Yahoo is especially not going for any criticism of what they do.  I attempted to post a comment calling to Yahoo's attention that on one hand, they are constantly carrying content promoting social justice, yet at the top of this article about the rebound of gold prices, they put a very stereotypical photo of a young African-American woman trying on some gold "bling."  My comment got rejected immediately, because "some member of the community might find your comment inappropriate."  What a joke.

Not just Yahoo, pretty much the leading tech and news outlets are doing the same. Agree with our narrative or you will be silenced.

What I have noticed is that only Yahoo-original stories permit comments.  Maybe that isn't the only reason, but it is what I have observed.  And yes, they have been in secondary "not real news" sections like entertainment or sports.
