WHY did my package go from Ohio to Pennsylvania when i live in michigan?

The USPS, UPS, DHL, etc, don't do "point-to-point" delivery. In other words, they don't deliver things via the shortest route possible, as that would't be profitable. They all use sorting centers or 'hubs", and all items go to these hubs prior to going where they are addressed. I could send a package to a city 20 minutes from my house; it will first be sent to a sorting center, which may be in the opposite direction.
