  • Green card in Venezuela Prison system?

A friend of mine has a son in a Venezuelan prison, his parents have been asked to sign a "green card" by the courts for his temporary release. Can anyone help me with what this card is? I have a feeling it's a type of residency card but having not seen the document I can´t be sure. If you know any web sites which may be able to help or you know I would be grateful.

  • Wi Fi connection stopped working?

I run my laptop from a Wifi connection, this morning it connected with no problem, after approx. 15 minutes it stopped for no apparent reason. As you can see it is not a connection issue as my PC is fine. All the lights on the router are as they should be. Anyone have any ideas please?

  • Laptop shuts down for no apparent reason?

My laptop shuts down without warning, sometimes before I open mail or explorer, sometimes after 5 minutes. I run Vista, no viruses show up after a thorough scan, the only "new" programme I have installed is an Adobe Flash player update. There is plenty of memory available. I have gone into the repair mode (F8) but it shows nothing, does anyone have any ideas? I am running it on Wifi, my PC works fine which I assume eliminates the router. This is a very recent problem and I have no new electrical goods near the laptop which could affect the performance. It is impossible to even read mail in normal mode. If you have suggestions please could you explain in fairly basic terms. Thanks for reading this

  • IP address of laptop connected by WIFI?

Hi, we have a PC connected by cable, with two laptops on WIFI. Mine is fine. My husband's won't connect. He has been away on business and it appears the laptop has lost the right IP address.

When we checked his laptop it has the same server numbers etc as mine, the only difference is the last two numbers of the IP address which are different. Should they be the same? We have tried to find the address automatically, we have also rolled back to a previous date. Which initially connected, then this afternoon it went off again. When you check the connection it says connected and the signal is good.

HELP what are we doing wrong?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • British state pension paid annually?

Some friends of mine (they are both over 80) receive a payment of Seven Pounds twenty eight pence each, every December from the DWP. The reference shows SP BGC. I'm guessing that SP is state pension, but does anyone have any idea of the BGC part and what is this money payable for. This is the only payment they receive from DWP. Thanks for your help.

  • Lost IP address on PC?

I recently lost internet connection on my PC during a storm. The router is fine and so is my laptop. When I try to connect on the PC it tells me it is searching for the IP address, then says it can't find it. I have rolled back the system to a date prior to the storm but this hasn't helped. If anyone could help I'd be grateful, but please explain in fairly basic terms, I'm not a technophobe but neither am I a computer programmer. I am using Windows XP, with an external router.

  • Microsoft Product Key?

I am trying to use Microsoft Office Picture Manager and it keeps asking for a Product Key. Having bought the laptop loaded (legally) with Vista the only product key is on a label on the bottom of the machine. When I input these 25 numbers/letters it tells me it's wrong. Anyone else having this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Renault Megane footwell sensor points?

I have a 2005 Renault Megane 1.6, this evening for some reason the footwell lights didn't go off when all the doors were shut, or even when the engine was turned off and the doors locked. I have had to resort to removing the bulbs for the night or I wont have a battery in the morning. I think maybe one of the sensors is dirty but I don't know where they are situated. Please could anyone help.

  • TEFL teacher in Malaga?

Does anyone with a TEFL qualification, or similar, wish for a few hours work in the Malaga area teaching English to professional people in their office? You must be legal, or be prepared to be legal. It is with one of the largest International companies in the world and is an ongoing contract.

  • More personal data lost?

Why are provisional drivers details in Iowa, USA? Why is an American company contracted to deal with these details? Isn't there a British company that can handle this? They are saying this is less serious than losing the previous two discs, but they contain names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. This is very serious and breaching the Governments own Data Protection law. Surely this Government needs to answer some very serious questions. If they cannot safeguard peoples personal details, what hope is there for the protection of people in general. They have a total disregard for peoples rights, which considering the tax payers are paying their salaries a lack of respect that can only be considered insulting.

  • BBC sports personality have I missed the point?

Having watched some of the BBC sports personality of the year awards programme, and seen the telephone numbers for people to vote for their chosen personality, watched the voting close, and viewers being warned not to telephone anymore or they may be charged, I was astounded to see that the winner was in Las Vegas and there was a trophy (albeit a replica) already there?! What was the point of people telephoning if the decision had already been made? Is this yet another telephone scam or have I missed the point?

  • If you lost your tax records?

If you keep your tax records on disk, as I do, and you 'lost' it, would the Inland Revenue be sympathetic to you?

I am, as a self employed person, obliged to provide and maintain my income/expenditure details for inspection by the Inland Revenue for seven years. Failure to do so could result in prosecution and imprisonment. They can accept my tax return, accept payment of taxes, but later go back 3, 4 or more years and question what they accepted in the first place and re-assess my tax payment. Why must I, as a private individual be expected to keep my records safe, when it would appear that the very office that I am accountable to are not required to do the same?

This hypocrisy is beyond belief. I work hard and try to respect the law, but the Government of the U.K. is not showing any respect to the public, they are putting the lives of people in jeopardy, not to mention their financial stability and security, which in todays world should be sacrosanct.

  • Press influence on Mrs Gibbons case?

Do you think that without the press involvement Mrs Gibbons may have suffered a worse fate? Normal procedure for the British Consul is to visit once, with details of 'how to survice in prison', a list of local lawyers, with a disclaimer, a few pages of phrases in the local language and how to transfer money (a minimum of four weeks).

Because of press involvement the FCO and Consul had to do more, and I totally agree they should have done. It's is one of the reasons for their existence. However, under different circumstances the FCO or local consul don't/won't become involved because 'they don't need to'. The person arrested therefore receives totally different treatment.

Whilst I applaud the fact that Mrs Gibbons case has been treated 'reasonably' sensibly what hope is there for others when press intervention isn't possible?
