  • Just checked Where's My Refund...?

It is now corrected to say DD on 1/30. You all may want to check again! Interesting how they got the glitch fixed and was able to UPDATE WMR more than once a week! LOL

  • UPDATE...my 3 conversations with the IRS!?

Ok, so this morning I had the same message as everyone else that my refund was DD on 1/23 and of course it is not showing in my bank. I called the IRS at 8:15am and after being on hold for 1/2 hour, the Rep had no clue what I was talking about with WMR and the refund hotline stating that DD was done on 1/23. She said NO refunds had been processed and NO ONE would get their refund until 1/30. She actually could not find our return, put me on hold for 10 minutes, came back and said she found it but it had not been processed yet but we should have our refund by 1/30. Not being satisfied with that answer, I called back around 9:30am. The 2nd rep pulled up our account and said that she could see it was processed and we would have our DD 1/30, and that there was a glitch with the computer system giving out bad dates. I figured I would do best of 3, so I called back one more time around 11am. The 3rd rep said yes there was definitely a problem with the system, and that if it originally said 1/30 to expect it then, but he would look up our account for sure. He put me on hold for about 2 minutes, came back and said yes we were a go for DD on 1/30. Each time I called, I did a different sequence of numbers to get to a live person, so I believe all 3 were in different call centers or areas. Trust me, I am VERY impatient when it comes to getting my money. But, I am convinced that it will be DD on Friday. Normally, we can see Friday's DD late Weds. or early Thursday (like payroll) so I will be checking all night tonight and all day tmw. If I notice it pending, I will update. In the meantime, I think everyone should let Friday get here and see what happens. Good luck everyone!

  • So DID some people get their refunds this morning? ?

If so, what did WMR say yesterday and what does it say today (or the refund hotline if you used it instead of WMR)? Who did you efile through and what bank did your DD go into? Trying to make some sense of all of this mess while I continue to hold for the next representative at the IRS!

  • Where's My Refund drama...?

So, WMR updates once a week, and if you get the "you made a mistake" message b/c we all keep checking it too often, you can call 800-829-1954 and get the information. BUT...how often does the 800 number update. Mine is still saying "we have received your refund and it is being processed. DD by 2/3". Some people are saying their's is giving a definite DD date of 128, and some are saying their's has been changed to 2/10. What in the world is going on???

  • Where are people getting information that the Recovery Rebate is causing delays?

We were eligible for an additional $300 on our 2008 return because of a significant change in income from 2007 to 2008. Our status still saying processing and dd by 2/3, same as everyone else that filed on 1/16. I cannot find actual documentation that there is a delay in processing returns with the RRC.

  • Have you received a Notice CP2000?

From what I understand from a representative at the IRS, this was the first step in informing us that we have a past tax debt. He told me that if we agree, do nothing and in about 30 days from the date we were to respond by we would receive an actual assessment and a bill, at which time we could set up pymt arrangements. Since we efiled our 2008 return on 1/16, it is my understanding that they will not apply this years refund to that bill, but in future years they will, even if we are making monthly pymts. I would like to hear from others that have had this situation happen to them. I do not want to call the IRS to inquire about our refund in case they would flag our account (like happened to someone else I know), but I am wondering if we will get our refund 1/30 or not. FMS lists no debts for my husband or myself. If it were indeed going to be offset, would it not be listed? Are federal tax debts listed on FMS hotline? Thanks!

  • Any status updates on "Where's my refund"?

For those who efiled 1/16 and received IRS acknowledgement (acceptance) on 1/8, have you checked the IRS website tool "Where's my refund" and if so, is it telling you that your refund has been processed and to expect your direct deposit or check?

  • Has anyone had their 2008 return accepted or rejected yet?

If you filed on opening day, Jan. 16, have you received acknowledgment from the IRS as to whether your efiled return was accepted or rejected? The suspense is killing me lol!! I see answers that say we should hear today, and others say tomorrow at the earliest!

  • When will my 2008 return be acknowledged?

I know that the IRS began accepting them on Jan. 16, but we efiled via H&R Block on the 13th and it stated that it would be transmitted on the 16th. My status shows pending. When will we know if it is actually accepted? Do they do them on weekends and holidays, or just business days?

  • Gatlinburg, TN area wedding...better in June or late Sept.?

Planning a mountain wedding (we are from Ohio) near Gatlinburg, TN either June 6 or Sept. 26. Concerned about heat, rain and background. Would like information about lodge-type settings (no church wedding) or outside at the bottom of a mountain or someplace with a waterfall in the background. Thanks!

  • What is wrong with my furnace? It keeps having to be reset, but still only works correctly part of the time!?

We reset it by either flipping the switch on the side of the furnace or taking the top panel off. A week ago, we could reset it and it would work for 1-3 days fine. Then 2 days ago, it started not resetting like that. When I reset it, it would take 3-4 times of it trying to light before it would kick on and produce heat. Now, that is not the case every time. Funny thing is, sometimes it kicks on and works properly without being reset!

Here's what is happening...The thermostat is set on 72; the furnace kicks on for about a minute, I see the plug turn orange/red, it clicks, then the plug goes out. This happens 3-4 times. Sometimes it just kicks off completely, and sometimes it will kick on and we will have heat coming out of the registers. There is no consistent pattern. We have checked the drain and the exhaust pipes for blockages.

Tech cannot find anything. A few moments ago, I the thermostat blinked "88" went blank and came back on set at 72. Please help!!

  • Going to Vegas next week; day trip to Hoover Dam and where else? Will have 3 teens and a 10 yr old with us.?

Which is best...Grand Canyon south rim, west rim, Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but want the kids to be in awe (we are from Ohio). Already have rental car reserved. Any words of advice on visiting these places...fees, parking, traffic? Would also consider a jaunt over to California if something to be seen. Plan on leaving hotel at 7am and returning late night (11p). Thanks in advance!!

  • In the state of Ohio, if a father relinquishes parental rights, does he have to continue paying child support?

We live in Ohio. My husband's ex-wife has made it impossible for him to spend time with his daughter even though there is a visitation order. He does not get to talk to her on the phone or see her. We have been to court, but without paying 10s of thousands of dollars to fight in court, there is no hope for change. He has considered relinquishing all parental rights, but if he does, does not want to be obligated to pay child support. As it stands, we are simply a piggy bank for mom. The ONLY time we hear from them is when a medical bill needs paid or there is a child support question! I understand that he has an obligation to pay child support, but he also has the RIGHT to see his child without having to fight in court! We are the ones that have to fork out the money each time! Can someone PLEASE help?? Thanks.
