Can grief, fear, and/or guilt cause chest and neck pain?
I broke up with my ex back in March, which is when I first noticed this pain from what I believe to be anxiety & guilt over the reasons of the breakup. But when we worked it out & decided to stay friends, these sensations of pain dissipated. When we decided to part ways for good on May 1, though, these painful sensations in my chest returned and haven't left. Ever since then, my chest has hurt and burned. Pain killer doesn't really help, my body hurts basically 24/7, and I can't sleep restfully every night. When my chest doesn't hurt, the pain radiates up into my neck;sometimes it feels like a weight is sitting on my chest. It's mostly on the left side of my body. I have researched it, and anxiety can cause really intense heartburn symptoms. Is there an over-the -counter heartburn medicine that can counter this? I've also tried Tums and Rolaids, and those don't help either. It has taken so much in me not to text my ex and say, "My body can't handle you not being in my life. My body literally hurts bc I know you're gone." I'm so embarrassed bc I should be able to process this without my body aching, but it won't go away. I'm finding it impossible to move on because my body hurts so much, and as a result, I'm constantly thinking about him. I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should see a therapist or a doctor or both? I do have a doctor's appointment scheduled, but it's not until July 1.

When I don't show up and don't explain, it's because I didn't want to walk in super late or I was working on an assignment for another class. Am I obligated or do I have a duty to apologize and explain what happened ? The times I miss, there aren't usually extenuating circumstances or assignments due ... Is it necessary to write an apology email each time ?

6 AnswersPolitics2 years agoHow do I know if I have Anxiety or if I'm just anxious a lot?
I told my extended family about how sometimes in class I'm afraid I'll pass out bc I have health problems and my chest will literally hurt in a spot (not every day, but occasionally..) I don't know if it's a reaction to too much caffeine, feeling nervous about class, etc. But my aunt asked if I thought it was anxiety.. And for so long I've wondered if I had it, but my parents tell me it's not real or it's all in my head .. And to just think happy thoughts or whatever..I don't like to claim I have capital a Anxiety but I do know I'm anxious and nervous A LOT, especially in unfamiliar social situations, which are basically all social situations because they're all different. Do I have to be diagnosed by a doctor to claim I have it? Or am I just a normal shy / nervous person who gets stressed a lot...?
-- anxious about claiming I have anxiety which supposedly isn't real or that what I have isn't severe enough to be considered capital a anxiety

10 AnswersPolitics4 years agoIf you're not strong in science is it bad to major in a degree that requires a lot of science classes?
I am currently on my 4th major, but don't see what I will be able to (realistically) do with a political science degree upon graduation.. I just don't know what I want to do, nor am I good at anything other than (well, used to be, since I've been out of school a while) English. But again, there's not much you can do with that... I don't want to do full-blown biology or pre-med, but I have (since high school) developed an internal problem (part of why I've been out of college for a while), and I'm wondering if doing a bit more general degree as nutrition could help me be healthier and gain insight to my problem? I would love to attempt to get smarter and get better at science.. Is it a bad idea to major in nutrition? I have tried elementary education (teaching's just not for me), communications (again, what do I do with it?.. Plus it was online), and history (general). I'm just struggling to find my niche. Can I become okay at science if I apply myself? I'm a 22 year old sophomore.. Help! If doing a science-based major isn't a good idea, what's a good major that is general but is always growing, job- market- wise? I'm running out of options!!
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)5 years agoHow can I survive working retail for the holidays?
I have worked at a children's clothing store for about 3 months now. It's not too bad, but it just hit me a few weeks ago the stressful part is coming. We had a tax free weekend a few months ago, but I know this is going to be way busier. I'm kind of shy, which is why it's not my favorite kind of job. But we are WAY understaffed, and I don't want to screw everyone else over by being yet another person to walk away before the holidays hit. How can I survive this?

I get that Trump is not Hillary, but that doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to the signs that show he would be disastrous as president.. Is it a red flag/ should it be? To me, it's a great reason to vote third party.
