  • In these troubled financial times....?

How are you making cuts to the household budget (eg, not eating out as much) and have you found your standard of living has gone down, or with making cuts you have managed to remain on an even keel. Personally i have stopped drinking alcohol (saving £60 a week) buying rolling tobacco alongside my normal Marlboro (another £30 a week), and am looking for special offers at the shops.

  • People all i see on this is whats the best browser.....?

Ok from the general opinion people seem to think that firefox is the best browser, followed by chrome. People seem to think firefox is the faster browser--POPPYCOCK! On my machine i could run ie6 faster than most using mozzilla or chrome. Explain to me why you do not think ie is the best, give me technical reasons--not "well my mates cousins sisters uncles budgie uses it and its quick" It will be interesting to see any answers on this

  • Help with a very slow pc.....?

My niece has a pc running xp sp2, amd athlon 1.gGhz with 512mb ram (of which 47% is free) . This is the problem, on start up (i have disabled all the programme's at start up ,ms config ) the unit takes 15-20 Min's to "warm" up. when you try to Access internet explorer it takes an age to connect as well as other programmes. The internet is connected via broadband (20mg) which i do not think is the problem as i have same problems accessing non internet programmes on the unit. I have run Ccleaner, spybot,Malware-bytes, Microsoft reg clean up and everything checks out ok! Anybody got any ideas cos im out of em!!!

    Cheers guys (and gals....)

  • I am leaving my beloved Japanese employer after 19 years......?

I had to give 3 months notice, which is fine by me, now they have decided to end my days not doing my normal tasks (systems analyst) but to land me with implementing and setting up a disaster recovery site. I havent a clue where to start, i have 8 good people working with me on this project , but they all seem to be a bit stumped. We have offices in Canary Wharf, London Wall and Cheapside. I do not think this is fair to put this on my shoulders, any body give me a heads up on where to start?

  • Found this and it made me think... your thoughts?

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my si de causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?"

"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."

"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

  • The home information pack?

I was looking at the governments website about the hip that come into force soon. Now i am not thick , stupid or daft, but for the life of me i cant see what the advantage is for buyers! The website is about informitave as a politician ! Now if i go into a house and someone has double glazing , it is more efficent t(heating wise) than someone who hasnt. Who is the beneficary (financially) for these packs? Have they a shelf life of 3 yrs or 3 months, so if you havent sold within the shelf life , do you need to buy another? They are advertising for people to become "Home Inspectors" so is this another way of getting window tax? Does the selling process now then have no need to involve a solicitor as all the searches will be done by Joe Bloggs ex Tesco shelf stacker!! I think it seems too "Big Brother" Well done to all who voted for Blair!!
