Steel
My martial arts background began in 1990 with TKD, as is the case with most children. We trained for self-defense rather than for competition, and we also learned related concepts from similar Korean arts such as Tang Soo Do and Hap Ki Do. I took over the school after my instructor retired approximately seven years later. After two years of running the school I subsequently sold it to relocate, and to continue my development in martial arts. Since then, I have been training in Chinese martial arts. We train with projectile, long-range, mid-range, and short-range weapons, and train in striking, grappling, and ground-fighting.
New iMac - how to burn DVDs?
I had a MacBook Pro that finally conked out after about 12 years. On it, I used to use iMovie for editing, Garageband for chapter marks, and finally iDVD for menus and burning to disc. Well, the new Macs don't have iDVD, you can't add chapter marks in Garageband anymore, and iMovie never did have the ability to add chapter marks. I'm just trying to transfer home movies taken with phones and such onto home media to no avail.
I've tried Burn, Cisdem (free version), etc. but I'd have to export movies from Photo to different folders and that messes up the order...
2 AnswersSoftware11 months agoWhat is a good program for Windows to edit video for burning to DVD?
I used to have a Mac and would use iMovie and iDVD extensively, but since that computer finally died, I'm struggling to find something comparable to use for transferring cell video to a DVD format that doesn't break the bank. I'm not huge on special effects, but I do like editing chapter marks and menus. Thanks.

6 AnswersWords & Wordplay4 years agoI'd like to get rid of cable and have been weighing my options between products/services such as Hulu, Google Chromecast, Fire TV Stick, etc?
I watch mainly local news, CBS, and ABC. When football season starts again, I'd like to be able to watch that as well, and we also have Disney Jr. in heavy rotation for my lil' guy. Given the fact we don't watch too much television and have no need for pay channels such as HBO, what would be the best course of action?
2 AnswersTVs6 years agoPanasonic SC-HT800V to Blu-Ray?
I have a Panasonic SC-HT800V home theater system which includes the 5-speaker surround sound. I am wondering if Panasonic currently has a Blu-Ray player with receiver such that it is comparable to the DVD/VCR combo currently included in the set so I can utilize the same speaker set up and sub-woofer - it has a specialized plug from the sub-woofer into the receiver. I am unable to find any information on Panasonic's website, so I am open to ideas. Thank you.
2 AnswersHome Theater8 years agoAre there any recommendations for a cable modem/wireless router?
I am acquiring internet access via my cable company this weekend. Along with my regular pc, I plan on utilizing wifi capabilities with an additional 4-5 devices, including gaming console, laptop, and cell phone. Eventually, I may also be called upon to work from home with my internet connection. This being the case, reasonable speed and reliability are key factors.
Rather than rent the cable company's modem/wireless router for a monthly fee, I am opting to buy one; it should pay for itself inside 7-8 months!
Thank you for any assistance.
2 AnswersComputer Networking9 years agoAre there negative long-term effects to operating a TV on "Retail" Mode over "Home" Mode?
I purchased a Sony Bravia kdl-46 s5100 and when watching telelvision/movies or playing a video game with dark scenes (such as night time scenes), the picture itself would dim, I'm guessing from the Energy Star feature. Once the scene itself gets lighter or there is a lot of movement, it goes back to normal, so it isn't a lasting effect - it's just a bit annoying while it does last! I got around this by operating on "Retail Mode" but am wondering if that has negative long-term effects.
1 AnswerTVs1 decade agoWhy is Obama being touted as "the first black president" when he is half black and half white?
I'm not discounting the historical significance of half his ethnicity and culture, but why ignore the other half?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoI just want the takes of others: Who thinks that the MA section of answers should be split in two?
I am not on here as consistantly as some, but when I do come online to browse questions, I see two prominant styles of questions: those pertaining to actual training and martial arts themselves, and then those dealing with spectating/UFC matches and the like. I feel it would benefit users if the section were split to have spectators go to one area and have those with training questions go to another. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it just seems to make sense to me to divide them. What's your take?
11 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoHow do I create DVDs from a mini DV?
I connect my camcorder to the PC via the USB cable. I have used Windows Movie Maker, Nero, and Ulead 9.0 (the software bundled with the camera, whose tech support is absolutely horrible), and have used AVI format to capture, then MPeg-2 to burn to disc, but the results are the same! They always come out either fuzzy, pixelated, choppy, or just plain bad... Help!!!!!
5 AnswersCamcorders1 decade agoWhere do people (mostly Judo/Jujitsu martial artists) get the figure 9 out of 10 fights end up on the ground?
I am bearing in mind that many figures come from police activity where the main goal is to tackle and subdue a suspect in order to cuff him/her, so naturally in that instance, a takedown is the goal.
I want to know where this figure comes from, if it applies to somebody actually getting knocked down due to a strike, and if it applies to regular street fights (not to the above scenario).
I have heard this statement a lot, but no proof to back up this claim.
9 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoDirected to user PSE... in what system do you train?
I have read your responses in questions we have both answered and you are very insightful. Unfortunately, you have no method of contact on your questions profile...
I was just curious as to how you train and where. I am in southern California, near Corona.
Thank you.
2 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoI have a 94 Acura Integra. Twice this week, after starting the car, the RPM's went down and it stopped.?
It started immediately afterward, but this is a nuisance that I don't want to get worse! I changed the oil two weeks ago, but could probably stand a tune-up.
Any ideas?
