SIM card is undetected in other phone, is it dead?
I've been trying to get a new phone to activate on my Page Plus pay as you go account.
They did the usual activation process, but then the phone doesn't seem to program. They say the SIM is activated, but in the phone's data it says "Unknown Provider" and the phone number is all zeros.
The last thing the tech guy recommended was putting the sim card in a different phone and see if it works there. When I did that the 2nd phone said "SIM Not Detected"
Does that mean the SIM card is bad or something since it won't work on the first phone and isn't detected on the 2nd phone?
3 AnswersCell Phones & Plans2 years agoWhy am I getting lots of answers to my questions that don't show up on the question?
It's always the answers that include links. They show up in the notifications page, but if I go to the question the answers with links don't show up.
I include links in a lot of the answers I put up, and they show up when I look at the questions.
Is it their level maybe?
5 AnswersYahoo Answers2 years agoWhat's a waterproof material to replace a wood pole with?
I use irrigation dams to flood a few of the fields at work, like the one in the picture.
It's got a 3 inch diameter wood pole running through the end of the dam. Any thinner than that and the pole usually breaks. The poles range from 10 foot to 16 foot long.
My problem is these poles tend to rot out after a couple years and break due to the mold and moisture.
I'm just looking for ideas of something else that's as strong as a wood pole, but is waterproof, and hopefully not too much heavier than the wood, but just as strong, if not stronger. Also, I don't think paint would make much of a difference, and be too expensive.
6 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)2 years agoHow do I find more of this Japanese candy?
It came in a random assortment bought from Amazon. They don't have any details on the listing, just mentioning a few brands, so I was curious if you could let me know what it's called, thanks!
1 AnswerJapan2 years agoWhat's your opinion on installing a 2nd window at the bottom of a skylight shaft?
I just moved in a mid 80's house that has a skylight in the kitchen and bathroom that is not insulated very well.
I'm wondering if it works to just install another window at the bottom of the shaft to help insulate the window.
Do you think it would need to be openable so you can clean it from time to time? Or maybe just removable if I go with a solid pain window? My thoughts are to just use a vinyl window and screw it into the boards that frame the bottom of the shaft. Maybe add some trim to make it look nice.
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling2 years agoCan you help me remember an 80s movie that starts with a 8 bit video game scene?
The movie I'm trying to remember starts with an 8 bit game scene. I'm pretty sure the movie is from the 80s.
The game's colors are mostly blue and I think it's a fantasy theme. I believe the character is walking down a path towards a mountain, confronts a boss, then gets quickly killed. Then it cuts to the main character who's frustrated, then goes on with a movie adventure.
I thought it was Princess Bride, but I just watched it and it starts with a baseball scene. Also not Tron, but I feel like it's from that era. It's gonna be G or PG rated probably, I remember watching it as a kid, but seeing it more recently too.
3 AnswersMovies3 years agoText is entering backwards on Windows 10 Skype and Messenger, what might be causing it?
I just fired up the computer and found when I try to type in Skype, Messenger, or the Start Menu the focus keeps shifting upwards.
If I try to type, whatever is going on continuously returns the cursor to the start, so it looks like I'm typing backwards.
It doesn't happen in any other programs that I've found yet, just Skype and Messenger and the Start Menu.
In Skype if I click on a conversation it without typing it just continuously scrolls upwards through the conversation, highlighting each block of text.
I've restarted the computer, it doesn't seem to be any sort of stuck key, I'm suspecting it's some new bug with the latest big update Windows installed.
1 AnswerSoftware3 years agoWhat kind of ankle brace do I need to wear with ice skates?
My ankles have always been terrible, partially due to a low arch. I like ice skating but my ankles can't handle keeping my feet from rolling sideways with a normal ice skate.
Expensive hokey skates would fix that, but I don't like skating enough to pay that much. I'm wondering if some ankle braces to keep my ankles straight would fix it, but when trying to search ankle braes all I come up with is wraps that wouldn't give the support I need to keep my ankle from rolling.
3 AnswersIce Skating3 years agoWould a pressure tank do anything to water pressure without a pump?
Our new house is watered by an old artesian well. The pressure is low but works with special shower heads and such.
Our contractor really wants to install a pump and a pressure tank but I don't think it's needed. He encourages at least a pressure tank.
Would a pressure tank do anything alone? It sounds like a waste of money to me...
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs3 years agoWhat's a good way to repair a broken PVC pipe used in construction?
I broke a PVC water pipe off of a Bambini ice machine trailer. I'm wondering if I can glue it back together. (See Picture)
It doesn't hold water pressure, it's not a problem if it leaks a little, it just has to hold the weight of the vinyl pad dragging behind the trailer, and let water drip out of the pipe.
The pipe's got a unique fitting on the end that I don't really want to find, so I'm wondering if I can just use PVC glue or super glue to patch it back together.
All I'm finding on Google is how to repair water pipes, which I know how to do.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs3 years agoWhat would cause the FM and AM not to work on my car's radio but the rest does?
This is on used Dodge Caravan 2012 that we just purchased. The Aux and Sat work fine, but if I switch it to FM or AM there is no sound.
I first suspected the antenna but the seek button works and you can see the stereo light blinking as it plays audio. That says to me it's receiving radio signals, just not playing them.
One time when I started it the radio worked great and the sound was crystal clear, but it hasn't worked since.
Is this an electronic issue in the radio? Or is there something else that might cause this?
1 AnswerConservation3 years agoHow do you calculate chances with coin flips when you can choose to re-flip coins?
I'm going for all heads with 3 coins. I can re-flip all the coins that land on tails 2 times.
Is there a formula to figure the chance of getting all heads including the re-flips? Or is it best figured with some sort of chart?
4 AnswersMathematics3 years agoCan you set Windows 10 to disconnect monitors that are turned off?
I've got a TV connected to my computer through HDMI. When I'm not using it I turn off the TV and manually set windows to disconnect this display so it's not opening windows over there.
Is there a way to have Windows automatically disconnect the display when it is powered off?
I've been searching it but I think I'm looking in the wrong place.
1 AnswerMonitors3 years agoWhat is this composite to headphone Xbox cable for?
I found an Xbox cable in my cable drawer that has the red, yellow, and white composite plug on one end and a headphone jack on the other end.
What is it used for? I don't actually own an Xbox myself so I imagine it came from a garage sale or something a while back.

2 AnswersXbox3 years agoHas the custom question feed been removed?
Years ago I got tired of all the trolling and spam so I stopped using the site. Then I found I could customize my question feed to only show the categories I was interested in answering.
Since their last update, that feature has been gone. Is it working for anybody else?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers3 years agoAre they limiting answers to old questions to avoid spam?
I've noticed I frequently can't add answers to questions or comment on the other answers. I noticed today that it's only on the questions that are about a week old and older. Are they starting to lock down old questions to prevent the spam or something?
It's sad though, it's even happening if they haven't picked best answer yet, so I can't add correct answers to questions that just got spam or troll answers in the first week.
Yahoo Answers4 years agoWhat is your favorite program to watch GPU load?
I usually recommend GPU-Z but get a lot of comments from people that don't like it, though they don't explain why.
MSI Afterburner is the only other program I've found to show you your GPU load, but it is a pain to get working, I've yet to figure it out.
Is there another great program that shows you your GPU load while gaming?
I've seen gaming channels that have some program that has an overlay that shows each CPU core load and the GPU load, but haven't found what program they use to do that yet.
2 AnswersDesktops4 years agoDoes this i3 6100 computer sound like a good deal?
A couple of local IT guys have opened a computer shop, they mostly sell refurbished computers for dirt cheap.
They had two computers with an i3 6100, 500 GB HDD, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and Windows 7 for $150. Or Windows 10 upgrade for $40. They guarantee it for 3 years.
The price seemed a little low to me. I'm guessing they piece these computers together from spare parts they get from doing their main jobs.
The computer would be perfect for the local museum to replace their office computer. It'll just be running office software. I'd add in an SSD and I bet they'd be plum happy with the upgrade.
5 AnswersDesktops4 years agoIs Yahoo Answers very broken for other people? Or just me?
I get constant "this question doesn't exist" errors and often have to refresh 2-3 times before the page will load.
Or lately every time I answer or comment I get a "we are having problems, please try again" error. I click the button again and it says "you have already answered this question." I refresh and the answer will be there.
Also lately trying to open a question will just go to the Yahoo homepage.
I just want to make sure it's not something I can fix.
7 AnswersPolls & Surveys4 years agoWhy does Windows "recommend" a smaller resolution for my Plasma TV?
I've got it hooked up as my 2nd monitor to my computer via an HDMI cable. Windows recommends 1280x720 but I can set it to 1920x1080. Just wondering if there's a reason for that, like a loss in image quality or something if I set it to it's max resolution?
