What was Don Bradman's highest score in any Ashes Test Match?
Just curious
6 AnswersCricket1 decade agoWhy has Mr. Speaker's cleaner been awarded an MBE?
She is (we are told) the one who accompanied Mrs M on her £4,000 plus worth of taxi rides.
Time 'Gorbals Mick' was kicked back to Scotland?
4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoAre you sick of call centres? UK and overseas?
After calling Nationwide on my mobile, after 30 minutes I gave up having got nowhere. I wish they wouldn't answer if no'one is availavle (unless you are buying/investing something). It costs nothing to hear the ring tone instead of dreadful music and soothing 'your call is important...'.
The most delightful two were 1. African and 2. Indian.
Although I have had rubbish calls to India too.
5 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhat right has Bush to say British troops must stay in Iraq?
I believe they should come home and should not have been sent there in the first place.
23 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoIs the chocolate digestive your favourite biscuit? Followed by chocolate hobnobs and Walker's shortbread?
onepoll.com., a market research company, polled 5,000 people on line and the above = the result.
My favourites are milk chocolate coconut biscuits (Sainsbury's) and almond thins.
Nutty choices!
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWould you vote for Kelvin Mackenzie if the Labour Party are too cowardly to field a candidate against D. Davis
Could the readers of the Sun swing the vote? - whatever their real opinion?
G Brown had to depend on the DUP to save his '42 days' vote, he's probably wary of risking a labour candidate's resounding defeat. He (GB) sounded really depressed in an interview today.
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat do you say when you answer the phone? - landline.?
Years ago we were told to answer by giving our phone number, then for safety's sake (to protect our number) we said 'hello'.
A newspaper reports today that few now say hello. so, excluding the people with caller display, what do you say?
Polite answers only!!
23 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhat good/positive things has the last decade brought?
There must be some, but we are always moaning!!
So cheer us all up.
'Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative'... words of an old song few of you would know (?or want to know!)
7 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat is a doogle?
I know what a dongle is, but in this section I read that someone had a doogle. It's puzzled me since!
3 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoWHT do I keep having to sign into bt Yahoo! mail when I have already signed into bt??
It's driving me crackers. Only happened in the last couple of weeks.
After all the spam going into my inbox and other (wanted) emails going into bulk (spam), this is the last straw.
If I wanted something longer and wider I would be well away.
3 AnswersAbuse and Spam1 decade agoHow can I trace this phone number? what would have happened if I had "pressed 5"? 0015179312220?
I have tried reverse tracking. No joy.
Iwas asked if I was "£2000 in debt and had a regular income press 5".
It's made me very curious.
I keep being told I have won a competition in Florida. My number is unlisted, but have had the latter call at least 6 times.
8 AnswersLand Phones1 decade agoShouldn't councils be sued (UK) for refusing/delaying rubbish collection?
Councils have a duty of preventing nuisance by vermin and infestation.
OK people throw out food/food wrappings, so should take some responsibility.
Separate containers for the above maybe - that would then show up who actually is wasteful1
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWho would you choose to replace Sharon Osbourne?
Names please, and reasons why.
Suggestions in The Guardian (Grauniad) include Robert Mugabe, Phil Collins, Steve Brookstein.
9 AnswersCelebrities1 decade agoShould our brave young men continue to die in Afghanistan? Or would it be better to legalise 'hard' drugs?
They are supposedly there as President Karzai is not tackling corruption and the drug barons who, we are told, finance terrorists, the Taliban.
If hard drugs didn't raise so much money, perhaps the poppy growing farmers would grow food instead and the drug barons would lose their lucrative business.
Addicts are going to get the money to fund their habit somehow, any how, by fair means or (usually) foul. So less crime might be the result too.
And our boys could come home.
17 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoJust why is the Govt. refusing us a vote on the EU?
Could it be a bad decision for the UK to vote 'no'?
If so, why?
Would too many EU MPs lose too much money?
9 AnswersInternational Organizations1 decade agoDo the ads on Yahoo! defeat their purpose?
At first they infuriated me, but now I have to consciously check to see if they are still there.
Conclusion:- the brain filters them out in the same way as it filters out familiar noise.
3 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoIs the day coming when the Government just allows us pocket money? (UK)?
So much income goes in tax and overheads it could be easier for them to take the lot and give us our spending money!!
It's very dispiriting to pay direct and indirect taxes on so many things and new ones are being mooted almost daily.
9 AnswersUnited Kingdom1 decade agoNew rubbish proposals. Don't we already pay for this through our council tax?
I read that a £160,000 report is recommending a charge of around £450 per household for rubbish collection.
Also only rubbish in 75p bags purchased from the council would be collected.
Considering a large proportion of the non-recyclable waste is generated by excess supermarket packaging this is unfair.
5 AnswersUnited Kingdom1 decade agoWhat do you think of Jonathon Ross?
Is he worth £18million to the BBC?
He's a bit too rude, lewd, disrespectful for my taste.
There's near the knuckle and beyond decency. He trades on the latter.
