  • Small town with a pub on PCH?

About 12 years ago I was in California for business (I was there about every 2 months).  One night we were driving south on PCH toward San Francisco and stopped at this little "pub" and had a beer and a snack.  It was dark so I can't tell you a lot, but it seemed like the coolest little town.  The place we stopped was a white wooden building and I think there was a deck that looked out over the water.  The name of the town (I can't recall why) makes me think of a wolf.  I have scanned Google Maps and can't find any small town on that route with a name that rings a bell.  Any ideas?

  • Anything fun for a family vacation in Corpus Christi?

I am taking my 18 year old son, 14 year old daughter, and her 16 year old friend to Corpus next week for 4 days, 3 nights.  We are staying at a hotel on the beach.  Anything that you would recommend we do in the evenings?  Any great restaurants?  Any don't miss tourist attractions?

    Thanks!

Are the Dems going to "follow the science"?

For months they have been claiming that they are following the science and that the Republicans are not using logic in their COVID policies and that the Republicans are responsible for all the deaths. Now the science says it is safe to open schools. Will the Dems suddenly change their tune?

Furthermore, the Dems are suposed to be the party of the "little guy" and the disenfranchised. The poor kids are the ones hurt by school closure. The rich have access to laptops, internet, tutors, etc.https://www.yahoo.com/news/the-science-is-on-our-s...

  • When will the X-Box series X be readily available?

I promised my daughter one for Christmas and we STILL can't get one!.  I would think that Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc would get a few each week, but I never see them in stock at all.

  • When will XBox Series X be available?

My son wants a new XBox for his birthday later this month and I can't find them anywhere.  Are they available out there somewhere?  If not, do you think I will be able to find one by Jan 27th?

  • Make SIRI say something when charger is plugged in?

Is there a way to make SIRI say a custom phrase when you plug in the charging cable on an iPhone 11?

Is there a way to create routines or actions based on plugging in the charger?

  • Standard deduction question...?

As a divorced male with a 17-year old son under my care, I assume I can claim HOH.  That comes with a standard deduction of $18,650.  Do I also get to claim the $2,000 tax credit?  If so, my taxable income would be my GROSS less 20,650?  Right?

  • How to estimate tax refund now...?

My salary changed drastically this year.  I got a divorce, and I am having a lot of extra money withheld.  Is there some way I can estimate/calculate my current tax refund status so that I can adjust my withholding for the rest of the year?  I don't want to owe, but I think I am having way too much withheld.  I work an extra job, so the withholding is kind of complicated.

Thanks for any advice.  I could annualize my earnings and withholding based on my most recent check, but I am not sure where I can plug all those numbers in to get an estimate of my tax liability.  I live in Texas which has no state income tax.

  • FICA limits when your income is from two jobs?

I work two jobs.  Any income above $137,700 is exempt from FICA.  Since my income comes from two sources, my employers will not know when I have hit this limit.  How do I get back any excess paid?  My primary job pays about $130,000 and my second job pays about $30,000.

    Thanks!

  • Hot Springs bath houses?

We are taking a family vacation to  Hot Springs, AK soon.  Do people actually go to the "bath houses" there?  Is it sort of like an indoor swimming pool?  Are they family friendly?  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

  • How do I estimate my Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI)...?

I will earn about $164,000 this year.  I will contribute about $7,000 to my traditional 403(b) and about $10,000 to my ROTH 403(b).

I am divorced and have one minor child dependent.

I'm trying to figure out if my MAGI will be less than $139,000 so that I can contribute to my ROTH IRA.  I will not itemize, as I currently rent and have no real deductions to list.

Thanks for the help!!!!  I could not find a good calculator/estimator.

  • Why don't troll accounts get suspended anymore??

I had some idiot get mad at me and reported all my questions about 6 years ago and my account was closed FOREVER.  I had to create a new one.  Now, Trolls like "Ben" get reported 25 times a day and their account is still there????

What does it take to get a troll suspended?  I know he would just create another account, but that is a lot more work for him.

  • If I contribute to my ROTH IRA, but later in the year find I earn too much, what happens?

I have been contributing to my ROTH every year, but this year I will earn more than $139,000 and file single. I think my modified adjusted gross MIGHT be under the limit, but it will be close. My gross before adjustments should be around $160,000.

What happens if I find that I earn too much, yet I have already contributed throughout the year?

  • Are they processing passports right now?

My son is going on a mission trip in July and we applied about a month ago.  Are they processing them or is that department closed?  I know it will be delayed, but trying to figure out how likely it is that he will get it in time for the trip.

  • Have you seen "The Turning"?  Is it any good?

I am going to see it tonight.  Me and my 12-year-old daughter love scary movies.  I have really not heard much about it other than the previews.  Is it scary?  Did you enjoy it?

  • Do they shave the area before doing a tattoo? ?

I plan to get a tattoo on my upper arm (where there is basically just peach fuzz).  Do they have to shave it first?  What if I decide to get it on my leg (which is very hairy)?

Also, how long will I need to protect the tattoo from water, etc?  What type of care will it require while it is new?

    Thanks!!
