3.5 year old external hard drive has started making noises when used, is this a sign of it's deterioration?
I have a Transend StoreJet 1Tb external hard drive that I've had for 3 and a half-ish years now and it's just started making a whirring noise when in use. I don't actually use it that often but it's connected to my laptop constantly and I have a the slideshow of background images for my wallpaper saved to it, and this is how I realised the noise wasn't random, it happened every time the image changed. Is this a sign that the hard drive is coming to the end of its' life or am I over thinking this?
2 AnswersOther - Computers3 years agoStudent registering to vote at the general election, which address do I use?
I am registering to vote in my student constituency but as the election is a few days after my current contract runs out and I move from one student house to another, which address should I register? The one at the time of registering or the address I'll be living in at when the election takes place??
1 AnswerElections4 years agoShould I use an ANOVA or a MANOVA in SPSS?
Proposing some research and I'm not sure whether or not to use an ANOVA or a MANOVA in the data analysis. I have an independent variable with 4 outcomes and the the dependent variable has 12 possible outcomes. Now as far as I can tell either could be used but I'm unsure to the difference between the two

Packing & Preparation5 years agoHelp trying to install Linux Ubuntu on my Asus Chromebook Flip?
So I'm relatively new to linux but it looked fairly easy to get to run on it on my Asus Chromebook Flip, after looking at tutorial. I was following every step, (used several guides, all very similar) dev mode, download cruton, open up crosh, type some commands. Then as it gets to the part where it'll download it asks for a password then my keyboard is unresponsive (bar enter). Anyone know why it is happening or what to do to get around it? Is it something to do with the processor being AMD?
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks5 years agoJust switched from Trombone to Euphonium and I'm wondering about mouthpieces.?
I was on a Vincent Bach 6 and a half A however the euph has a Parker mouthpiece and all I can see on it is the name and 1 TEM on the shank. Anyways, I'm struggling to hit higher notes on it, I know this is probably me just getting used to the new instrument but I was just wondering if there was a mouthpiece more similar to my old Bach?
2 AnswersClassical6 years agoWorkplace disciplinary advice for a specialised retail shop. This morning I was summoned before the boss and a 'review' of my contract began?
A few positive things then he goes on to say however your communication with customers, we aren't very happy about. He proceeds to hand me a complaint from a potential customer. I have no queries about the basis of the complaint other than the person who verified the customers complaint could not have seen all of what went on. I was relieved for my lunch mid sale, and seeing as all I had to do was take the box (£50) to the till and get them to pay, I decided to hand it to the other member of staff and I forgot to tell her what to do and the customer left disgruntled and empty handed. This was my fault and I accept this however when going on to read the email I feel they made an untrue comment against me saying I was uninterested in the sale which I wasn't I didn't now some of their questions and went on to reveal a fact that they did not tell me on the day that they were going to spend £450 on a telescope. Anyway I got a simple telling off from my direct boss on the day. So back to the meeting the main boss proceeds to lay into me in a way that I feel is unsuitable and then claims that the email will be used as a written warning.
Having read into this area I think that he hasn't acted lawfully, no letter prewarning etc. does this invalidate the warning if it were ever taken further? He then gave me an ultimatum of getting better at dealing with customers better as it had been raised before (the first few weeks I had worked solidly on their website) does this have grounds?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoHelp switching from tenor C clef to treble clef?
So yeah I play in a brass band and learned how to play with them, so obviously haven't had any proper theoretical lessons or anthing like that I just learned as I came to it. I started on cornet but now am on trombone. For anyone who doesn't know all music for them is written in treble clef. Now occasionally trombones get given tenor c clef in marches for some weird reason I dunno, and I've worked out (by trial and error) that if there are any flats in C clef then you knock two of them off to make it to treble again, weather this is correct or not I don't know, but it seems to work so I use it that way, however I've been given a piece that has a single sharp in it in tenor C clef, how do I go about working out what that would be to play it in treble clef?

3 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoUk police law?
Can the UK police go into a privately booked venue and start randomly ID'ing people without a warrant? Happened to me last night, I am 18 but didn't have my ID as the bar staff know I am. Fortunately I was drinking water at that point because I needed to be sober in the morning however I was just wondering what the rules were for this as I had been told that they couldn't.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police7 years agoCan a UK Alcohol licence dictate when you are allowed minors on the premises?
I recently went into a pub with some friends, half of us underage and half of us of age, and as soon as we entered the establishment we were asked for ID. I being under 18 queried this and they said their licence only let minors on the premises before 7pm due to the licence they held. Is this allowed and legal or were they mugging me off?
1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits7 years agoIs this abnormality in my rib a problem?
Recently a few people have told me that my lower left part of my rib cage sticks out abnormally. I had never noticed it before, so wouldn't be able to say if it had been there a long time or if it was a new development. Is this a problem? It hasn't effected me in any way what so ever, yet. However I am aware that my mother had scoliosis as a child/teen and am wondering if it has anything to do with that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance :)

2 AnswersBasketball8 years agoAdvise on a knee injury?
About almost two weeks ago, i was playing football with my friends. One of my friends who is a more 'chunkier' than i am decided to slide tackle me, however he messed up and ended up hitting my knee joint, and i went over on it, with our combined weight. As i say its almost been two weeks and its still feeling funny and occasionally stiff, i am considering getting it checked out. My real question is whether to see my GP or go more specialist. if the second option could some one give me some advise on contacting them. I live in the north east of England, anything will be helpful
Thanks in advance :)
1 AnswerInjuries8 years agoHelp working out a training session please?
I run the after school basketball club at my school because the teacher who used to do it has become more senior and doesn't have the time for it :( I am a sixth former (year 12) and have little to no experience in doing this. I have been doing this for a few months now and i've just got myself through thinking of different stuff for them but it's not working, we are getting smashed every game! i'm running out of ideas and i'm not enjoying it at all :/ could someone give me advise on planning a session aimed at people mostly very new to the sport but there are 2-3 who are a bit better and one who plays properly with me at a club. Thanks in advance :)
2 AnswersBasketball9 years agoIs this legal or not?
I would just like some clarification because I have heard different things. Is it legal to download something if you have a physical version of it? I ask because my old computer literally died on me and I had to re-burn all my CD's to my new laptops itunes, however my Blink 182 (2003) album is too scratched to burn. So would I be able to download a copy online?

I noticed this during a basketball match I recently played. I was playing fine, the only reason I needed to be subbed was because I tiring. But the only reason I feel I was tiring was because I was getting a dry mouth which makes it slightly harder to breath, which makes me tire more easily because my body can't break down lactic acid as quick etc. Does anyone know what causes my mouth to go dry and can you tell me a way to overcome this problem? Thanks in advance :)
