Do I have to pay this parking ticket?
Last week I received a parking ticket whilst outside my friends house. Without going into too much detail it has ordered me to pay £60 within 14 days or £100 if I don't pay within 14 days. In fairness looking at the miniscule and highly disguised sign outside my friends it does say no parking, which I'll admit makes me in the wrong.
However, when I opened the ticket there was no details on the inside of exactly what offence I'd committed. There is a section on the top of the ticket for the person issuing the ticket to fill out. (Date / Time / Location / Nature of the offence / Vehicle reg / Issuer ID) this was left completely blank. This makes me think it was just a scare tactic. By law, because of them not filling in these details does this still mean I have to pay?
There is no-one to even contact because they refuse to communicate verbally due to legal reasons.
Obviously I was in the wrong for parking there but seriously, who wants to see money going to scumbag thieving parking companies?
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police9 years ago[UK] At what point can you file a serious complaint for Police Harassment?
I am so sick and tired of my local Police force constantly harassing me whilst I'm driving.
I've been pulled over when driving 5 times in the last month, and several times before that over the course of the last year. All apparently 'routine stops'.
I've never been in trouble with the Police, I don't have any points and I've never had an accident whilst driving. My documents are all in order (Tax, MOT, Insurance.) I don't even hang around in suspect areas. My car always passes their rigorous checks. IE: going around my tyres measuring the tread depth, checking the level of my windscreen washer fluid (Yes, seriously) It's not like I even speed, I'm genuinely a careful driver.
I know it's because I'm young (20 years old) they think they can target me. It makes me nervous when I'm out driving because I feel I'm constantly being watched so they can get me in trouble for something, and I have to drive around 400 miles per week for work and University. More often than not the Policeman is arrogant and rude, one even called me the "cancer of British roads"
I drive a normal looking car, not one with a massive bodykit or huge exhaust. I've spoken with my parents but they advised against anything because if I did manage to get them in trouble, I'd be more of a target than ever!
I feel like I'm in a no win situation here, I am so sick of having my time wasted by some thick skulled bobby on a power trip. It annoys me even more that there seems to be nothing I can do about it. Why are they not catching the real criminals, rapists and drug dealers etc?
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police10 years agoPaying for something using PayPal.?
I'm a bit confused as to exactly how PayPal works when I want to purchase an item.
I currently have £20 in my account, but want to pay for something which costs £25. I don't want to wait the 5-7 days that they claim it will take to add the extra funds I need into my account.
So, my question is: If I go ahead and purchase the item, will it take the extra £5 from my bank account automatically, or will it make me go into a negative amount on my PayPal account. Will it void the transaction completely?
I have a verified account if this makes any difference.
Thank you kindly for your help.
2 AnswersYahoo Shopping10 years agoCan you connect a laptop to a PC and combine the power of both?
I'm sure there a few people with tech knowledge laughing at me right now but it's a genuine question. As you can see I'm not well informed when it comes to computers and such like.
Anyway, as the title suggests, is this possible? I have a high powered desktop computer which doesn't get used these days as I'm always on my laptop. I want to know whether I could connect them up and basically 'leech' the power of the better components for programs I'm running on my laptop. (For example my F1 2010 game)
Thank you in advance for any help!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoI'm bored, I need some new TV series...?
Okay well I'm pretty bored, I need some new TV series to get into. I kind of like the sci-fi stuff or
medieval kind of thing, anything to detatch from reality lol.
Stuff I've enjoyed in the past is..
The 4400 - This was amazing, shame they cancelled.
Fringe (Got bored after every ep was basically the same)
Heroes (Got lost after series 2)
Loving Game of Throne at the moment, easily the best series I've watched in a long time.
No Ordinary Family was really good
Stargate SG-1 but this was a while back.
Probably a few more, I'd prefer it if it was only a couple of series old at most as I hate having to watch stuff from years ago to understand the latest episodes.
Cheers guys
8 AnswersDrama1 decade agoMy life is one big facade and one big disappointment and my mind is poison.?
I am living a constant lie, I hate having to live like this but I can't see any other way to function. It's getting to the point now where I feel like something has got to give, but I'm not sure what. It's like I'm living my life in sepia.
I'm 20 years old and I am in a job I hate, I'm due to be going back to University soon having left the last one due to depression. Although only I know this, everyone else just thought I hated the course. I have no interest in the subject I'm going to study and honestly can't imagine sticking three years of it. I have no social life out of choice, no girlfriend due to being mentally haunted by my last. I go through life hating every waking moment of it. When I get home from work I listen to my iPod on full volume until it's time for bed. If you knew me in real life you'd think I was taking the ****.
I've had depression since I was 15. No-one has ever known apart from my Mum, and she thinks that was "cured" years ago. I think I will have it for the rest of my life. It feels like a poison inside me, turning everything good into something bad. I don't feel like I really have any friends because they don't know the real me. I stopped seeing them a few months ago anyway after I couldn't be bothered going on nights out any more. I had an amazing girlfriend but broke up with her, this was over a year ago and every time I shut my eyes I see her face. At the time I broke up with her because she was getting too close. I constantly feel lonely but letting anyone get too close is a huge no.
Like I said before, if anyone who knew me in real life knew I was writing this, they'd think I was joking or making it up.
I don't see any point in going through my whole life being constantly unhappy, I have nothing to look forward to or be happy about.
I'm not dissatisfied with my appearance, yet I can't go in clothes shops without wanting to throw up. I get panic attacks when I have to be around a lot of people I don't know, yet my job requires this often and I have kept myself together somehow. The latest one is that my Mum thinks I have an eating disorder, my argument is that I am just picky about what I eat.
I hate the fact that I had so much potential when I was younger, doing well at school and at the top of the class for most stuff. Captain of my football and cricket team, now I'm this.
What do?
2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIn legal terms: Can I knowingly do something wrong at work which could potentially do a lot of damage?
As the question suggests, legally speaking, am I allowed to deliberately and knowingly do something wrong at work which could potentially cause the company to lose both money and reputation? Mainly to get back at my boss from hell. This man is literally pure evil. What I'd do would take him down a peg or two and teach him that he can't treat everyone like crap, and that not everyone is going to sit back and take it. Believe me I'm not your average disgruntled employee, this man needs to be put firmly back in his place.
The reason for asking is simple: Although I am happy to risk my bosses wrath, I don't fancy getting sued or being liable for my actions in court.
Obviously with a question like this there has to be a backstory. So for those interested, here it is.
Basically I work as an apprentice at a motor company, however I am treated nothing like an apprentice. I am expected to do the job completely on my own having been shadowed for just one week, with only occasional help from those in my office. If I make a mistake (And believe me with my job, every single thing I do there is high risk of a mistake) I get a massive public bollocking and get called every name under the sun by my Nazi-like boss. If I wasn't a confident person I'd have crumbled into nothing by now, one lady has already had several weeks off due to depression caused by this man. We have an extremely high staff turnover, one or more in sales per week.
I am not even on a contract nor have I actually been entered onto the apprentice scheme yet after 3 months working at this place. When I asked him about it I was told I haven't earned it.
This man is a moral vacuum, by using the apprentice scheme he is legally allowed to pay me £400 a month for doing 43+ hours a week. (Including when he forces me to stay behind after I'm supposed to be finished. This ammounts to less than £2.50 per hour, which is just over a third of UK minimum wage. (Due to the fact I'm not even on any scheme yet I'm not sure how legal this is.) Don't think it's because he is short of cash however, aside from profit he makes through his business he also makes over £5,000 a month Tax Free which he then launders through a sister company. He also commits fraud by adding vehicles onto the stocking loan, when we don't actually own them.
He constantly belittles everyone in the workplace, he actually refuses to call me by my Unisex first name because apparently it's "too gay". He is openly racist and sexist. If you phone in sick he will send someone round to your house to check it is the case - needless to say you'd have to be on your deathbed to even consider phoning in.
If you read all that I hope you will agree this man deserves what he will get. For the record none of the above is made up or exaggerated.
A few things I should clarify..
You might say "Well why don't you just leave?" For one, I need the money, little as it is. Work in my area is extremely difficult to find. Not to mention I refuse to let this man scare me off, if I go, I'm doing so in style.
Thanks in advance for help.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do you wire and fit a flatscreen TV to the wall?

4 AnswersTVs1 decade agoHow much would my WoW account be worth now? TBC Rares.?
I quit WoW ages ago, but a friend of mine recently told me I could sell my account, for quite a lot of money infact. I never use it so I may as well.. just wondering what would it be worth? It's a level 80 Priest. (+ lots of alts)
I used to be quite the geek back in the day and have a lot of rare items on my character, such as full Tier 6, Amani War Bear, Hand of A'dal title. (Ex-top 100 world guild) My character also has maxxed best profs and a good amount of gold, as well as the obvious ones like dual talent / epic flying. It is also well kitted out for WotLK and should have no trouble getting in any guild. Especially given the wealth of experience it's had pre WotLK.
My alts are: 72 Paladin with old'skool vanilla PvP Title and gear / 71 Rogue / 70 Hunter / 80 Death Knight.
Any advice where I can sort this out would also be great. Thank you in advance.

2 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWhat to do about my girlfriend, she makes me feel so down. Or is it just me?
Well the question says it all.. I don't really understand where I'm going wrong, and I don't know what to do about it.
We're both 18, we've been seeing each other for about 9 months but had a 2 month 'split' which was because of a similar problem.
The thing is, if we broke up I would be heartbroken, when we split up it was some of the most depressing times I've ever had. But for her.. I just don't think she'd really care.
She never makes any effort, in anything. I'm always the one who has to arrange to do something, or arrange to meet her for a drink, or text her first etc.. She never shows that she is actually bothered about anything.
I am considered a nice guy by everyone who knows me, I am straight talking and generous, like I always insist on paying whenever we go out and I always offer her lifts, I let her choose where we go to eat or what film we go to watch. I'm not pushy as far as sex or anything is concerned, and I never complain about anything she does. Now I'm not making out I let her get her own way always, but I always offer her the choice first, before I give my thoughts.
What gets me as well.. I would say I'm pretty good looking, people always say so, I go to the gym and have a good figure, I get plenty of attention on nights out. But she never seems to really pay attention to that, it would be nice if she seemed even a tiny bit protective over me. It sounds silly but when she is like "Yea well your choice what you do" then I feel a bit like.. what's the point. All my friends have told me countless times I could do better than her, but they don't see that she is what I want. Even if she is clearly no good for me.
The main thing is, if I'm not with her then I'll be terribly sad, but if I am.. I'm sad as well because I just feel under appreciated.
I tried moving on from her when we split up and it just didn't happen. The sight of other girls just made me feel sick and I moped around the whole time and was a pain in the *** to all my friends. I'm so stuck on what to do..
6 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoIs there a darker side to Mr. Bean?
As the question states.. Is there a darker side to Mr. Bean? Or am I just looking too much into it.
My main reasoning is as follows:
1) Let's face it, his character is pathetic. He makes a mess out of the simplest things. (For comedic value as much as anything)
2) He has no social life, I'd even go so far to say that he is disliked or frowned upon.
3) Even though the character is funny, personally I always feel really sorry for him and almost guilty I'm laughing at the sketches.
4) His teddy bear - I'm not sure what role this plays but I always thought it made you notice his kind side as opposed to his clumsy side.
5) As with all comedy mishap sketches, he has a lot of bad luck.
6) The music on the end credits is not what you'd expect at all.
No idea why I asked this, I just saw a few episodes on Comedy Central and although I laughed.. I came out of it feeling generally cringey and almost guilty for it.
1 AnswerOther - Television1 decade agoWould flowers be the right approach?
So me and my girlfriend had a bit of a falling out over something very trivial. It was mostly my fault.. Anyway.. we made up and it's back to normal but tomorrow will be the first time I'll see her since we fell out.
We made up on the phone etc but I was wondering would buying her some nice flowers as a gesture of apology make her see how sorry I am or is it just best to get on with it and avoid bringing it back up?
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade ago[UK] What are these police censorships that are going around at the moment?
So I drive to college every day and drive back, it's about 25miles each way and I give two of my friends a lift. I'm 18 as are my friends, I drive a black Corsa C with tinted windows. It's like having a sign over my head saying 'PULL ME OVER NOW' Now I think that most police are useless wastes of taxpayers money at the best of times however that's not the issue. I can't avoid the place where they are doing the censors without adding +10 miles each way, which I'm not doing.
What are these police censorships going round at the moment where they 'randomly' (Yar right) pull over drivers at certain points to ask them questions about their journey? Do I have the right to refuse to participate in the survey and do I have the right to refuse to pull over? I do not drive around like some chav however young drivers with modified cars are prime targets for the police. I can see it now.. they pull me over for this censor then mysteriously find other problems with my car and do me for it.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoSo what's the deal at the end of the day?
So about nine months ago I started seeing this girl, it never progressed to the stage of 'in a relationship' because it was only a short time after she'd finished with her ex. Having said that there was definately something there and it wasn't a rebound situation that's for sure. Anyway she decided there was no point trying to further the situation because of various reasons, I took offence to this and basically fell out with her after we'd been getting on so well and shared so much in common. We never spoke to each other and I did my best to ignore her even though I would see her everyday and friendships between our group of friends was strained..
Anyway a month or so ago she text me saying she wanted to sort it out and how she still had feelings for me, I still did for her as well and we ended up just like in old ways without all the problems of before that stopped us taking it any further, I hadn't been serious with anyone since and she had a boyfriend for a short time who I don't think was anything that serious either. We talked literally all day and sorted things out and it was clear there was something there, I still feel some unease about something though and I can't work out what, if she messed with my feelings again I would be heartbroken. I just need some advice on the best course of action!
We both like each other a lot that is not in doubt but if I broke up with her, she'd get over it in a week whereas I'd take months and months so I stand to lose more from it going badly. Some words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thank you kindly in advance.

4 AnswersOther - Television1 decade agoHow to achieve a toned body.?
Since it's my summer holiday before I head off to Uni and I've got a lot of spare time on my hands - I've decided to really work on my body this summer.
I'm looking to get a nice toned upper body and the usual like abs etc. I don't want anything too extreme.
I've already got a bit of definition but with a bit of hard work it could easily be more.
Which pieces of gym equipment do I need to be using, how many sets / reps do I need to do of each, how many times a week.
This is on top of my usual 40 push-ups / sit-ups per day, as well as a variety of other excercises like football, walking, lifting at work etc.
Thank you in advance!
3 AnswersMen's Health1 decade agoI have what I thought I always wanted, now I've got it then it's not really what I wanted after all..?
I always thought that what I was looking for was a girl who would fall for me straight away and be one of those slightly (But not overly..) clingy types.
Now I've actually found this believe it or not, but the strange thing is it's now what I'm after at all.. and to be honest I'm messing this poor girl around which is horrible of me.
What's the problem? She's good looking, she is into the same weird things as me, we get on great.
I know the reason I've not told her this is because it is a good feeling to know you have the power to change someone's life, in your hands.
My question is this: How can I resolve this and still keep her as a friend, and how do I find what I'm really looking for? Clearly this isn't it yet for years I've imagined it was.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhy isn't forcing Religion on people considered as offensive as denying Religion exists?
I am a firm believer that once you die, that is that. I do not believe in there being some higher being capable of influencing our lives here on Earth. I certainly don't agree with conflicts because of Religion and find violence and acts done in the name of a Religion pathetic and ridiculous.
Basically I'm an Aetheist.
Now imagine I was to stand in the centre of town shouting this, I'd be lucky to avoid being hospitalized I think. I wouldn't be given permission to hand out flyers or knock on peoples doors. I'd be frowned upon heavily.
Now, when some complete stranger stops me in the street, knocks on my door, advertises their Religion in the middle of the street, this is considered acceptable?
This culture the world has disgusts me and I am interested to hear why people think it is this way. Just as Religious people don't like having Aetheist's telling them what idiotic, gullible fools they are. I don't like having Religions forced on me from every angle. And you can't deny that they are.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoVampire lovers.. I need some inspiration please!?
Right well I'd say I like Vampires a little bit more than your average person. Quite a lot more - infact, I decided to do a project on them for my college work.
Basically I need to be able to write something for a Vampire, or as if I am a Vampire. I'm struggling for ideas at the moment because being (sadly) fictional creatures it's kind of hard to research as such.
I am aiming for a slightly humorous undertone to the piece, as my course is based on writing it needs to be well thought out.
One idea I've had so far is "How to be a Vampire, 10 top tips to living.. forever" That took 2 minutes to think up so I'm sure I can do better with a bit of help!
The Vampires I am thinking of are the ones with personalitys, Selene from Underworld is a character I had in mind or Victoria from Twilight (Neither good nor evil basically)
