I went to lough swilly recently and had this tremendous feeling of failure. Hugh O'Neill failed Ireland and so did O'Donnell. Should we acknowledge their descendants in failure?

Thinking of jacking in my job, moving home and going full time at it. Yea I know everything is crap at the moment but hey what the hell. I have no building experience but I could always try my hand at supervising the work. Then just chilling out in the evenings and weekends. Who's with me?
5 AnswersOther - Ireland1 decade agoCowboy holiday from Europe?
Would like to take my Dad on a holiday through the Rockys or something. Aka cowbow territority. I know its probably cliche for alot of you but I think it would be great. Do you know of any good holiday places we could try? I am sure there must me lots of east coast American people who go on these.
I am thinking along the lines of the film "City Slickers" minus Billy Crystal and the rest of the cast bar Curley.
Seriously any suggestions? Would be good to take in some of those red coloured mountains which we all associate with 1870s. What location is best e.g Texas, Oregan or what? and do you know of good ranches? We'd be flying from Europe. Thanks in advance. T
3 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoWhy is the United States called "Panama"?
I located United States/Panama in my (European) atlas though I understand that residents of Panama refer to it as the "United States" but other countries refer to it as "Panama." Why is there different names for the same place in the same language?
4 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoWhat jurisdiction governs the United States?
Does Ottawa impose direct or does the United States enjoy a form of semi-autonomous domestic rule? I understand that some people from the United States such as Celine Dion actually refer to themselves as "Canadian". Is this required if a United States resident requires a passport? It's very confusing! Is Canada involved with any other South American countries?
5 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoWhere is the United States?
I understand that it lies to the South of Canada. Is it part of South America and near Brazil? What are transport connections like and what is the nearest country I should fly to if I want to visit from Europe?

3 AnswersOther - Ireland1 decade agoWho would win a burger eating contest between Pat Kenny and Shane O'Neill?
This one has really bothered me. I have always imagined Shane O'Neill (1530-1567) would have been a wild cat with a big appetite. But then there he may lack experience of eating burgers - they might not have been around in the 16th Century so Pat Kenny might have the edge on that. I just don't know.
4 AnswersOther - Ireland1 decade agoAll Ireland referendum to abolish Lisburn?
I mean it's doesn't offend me or anything but consistent opinons are that it's quite a dismal place. It got city status recently (cringeworthy) but why not just make it part of Belfast or just abolish it. People living there could be given land in South Belfast, Limavady, Gort or Glenamaddy or somewhere.
I think it may also be benefical for the residents as removing Lisburn could be seen to conform with the 2006 Human Rights Act.
