*By intelligent, I don't mean posh or arrogant (eg "posthumously" is not an intelligent word, its just pretentious). I mean simple phrases which people should understand which can be thrown into conversations to assert dominance over people who would otherwise be an intellectual equal.

For example, being able to refer to Occam's Razor correctly in a conversation would show that I am clearly the most intelligent person involved, despite it being a fairly simple concept. Similarly with something like Murphy's Law.

Could you provide a list of these kinds of phrases as well as their meanings with an example of them being used correctly.

Does "You are sat in a corner" make sense at all. I thought it did, but someone recently corrected me on it. Can I use the past participle of to sit in a continuous context? If I can, does that tense have a specific name?

I've been playing piano for about 10y now, but ive only just decided that maybe I could start trying to compose something of my own. I'd like to create a few pieces in different styles, including a jazz piece, an accompaniment for a slow melodic solo on my euphonium, a classical piece, baroque piece and romantic piece, and maybe some other styles as well. Could you give me some advice on where to start with composing a piece and how to progress from there. I have a pretty good understanding of music theory so feel free to get technical :) Thank you!

I've been making a lot of stupid mistakes recently and I'm getting really annoyed with myself. I honestly feel like ****. I've also got an exam on Friday which I'm not prepared for at all. I am getting angry at really small things every few minutes. Have any of you internet people ever felt this and how do you get rid of it?

For my music homework I have to find 3 composers and 3 characteristics of Baroque, Romantic and Classical Music. I have scoured the internet (i.e gone on google and looked at the first 5 or 6 results then got bored/annoyed and decided to just ask someone) but cannot find a simple answer for the characteristics. I did have a booklet which had them all bullet pointed like

Baroque:

• sudden dynamic changes

• low range of the keyboard

• ornaments are common

But I have since lost it. So please just lay it all out like that o it's simple to copy down. Thank you for your time.
