Advice for Moving to LA?
I'm planning a move to LA in the summer of next year, but I know so little about the city I'm looking for a little advice (and not "don't move here"). I want to know where the good neighborhoods are, but not the overly priced neighborhoods. It'll be my 2 home girls and myself, looking to rent a house or an apartment, but not spend more than 1700/month (hopefully utilities included).
I'm from a very expensive city, but apparently where I live is much cheaper than LA, so I'm not sure if 1700 is reasonable or not.
Pretty much, I want to live in a nice part of town that has decent nightlife scene, and isn't too far from anything. And we don't want to live in the Valley!!
Tips? Suggestions? Anyone else already make this sort of move??
8 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoHow Much Will I Get For the Accident?
I know this question has been asked time and time again, but I want a ballpark of how much I'm going to get for my personal injury claim from my car accident.
I was hit in December by a madwoman, and was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital where I was treated for cervical and lumbar strain. I had physical therapy for a month and a half. I still have flare ups in my neck, quite frequently, but I haven't seen a doctor about them because there's nothing much he can do. They only last for a few days, and by the time I get an appointment the pain will be gone, and wouldn't you know that they always happen to start up on a Friday.
I've heard the 3x the medical bills formula, but should I be compensated for the fact that I lost my job due to my inability to work (I hadn't been working there for more than a year so FMLA didn't apply in that case). I was out of work for a month before they fired me.
My car wasn't badly damaged, because it's old school and completely made of steel, so they replaced the bumper and all is well, allegedly. But it definitely makes noises that it wasn't before the accident.
Facts from me: I'm 24 years old, had a pre-existing back injury that I was medically cleared from, never been in a car accident, the accident was the other driver's fault, and I'm still unemployed but have been actively seeking employment since I was cleared by my doc from this accident, medical bills total up to around 4,000 dollars, I live in Maryland and the accident happened in Maryland. I have an attorney, and I know they're going to rape me for what little I get.

A crucible had a constant weight of 21.357 grams. With a sample of an unknown hydrate, the weight was 25.971 grams. After being heated to drive off the water, it measured 23.067 grams. The formula weight of the anhydrous salt was 106.0 grams/mole. Calculate the mole ratio of
waters of hydration to anhydrous salt. (Express your answer as: "salt • H2O", where the calculated mole ratio goes in the blank.

I have a question on my chemistry homework that I'm not quite sure how to work...

1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoFiring while on temporary disability?
I was injured a while back and was put on temporary disability status a while back. In the 2 and 1/2 weeks I've been out from work, I've been fired. They said they need someone who can be there. But doesn't this go against FMLA? or some sort of antidiscrimination against people with disabilities laws? I live in Maryland, which is an at-will state, but I'm still wondering about the legalities of this...

2 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoPalisades Collection Re-Aging Debt?
I have a debt that Palisades says I owe. I have never received proof of owing this debt, but I may possibly owe it. Anyhow, the account in question is still "open" according to my credit report. But, if it's a debt I think it might be, the account is closed and has been since 2003.
I live in Maryland, and I want to know how to dispute this without acknowledging the debt.
I also want to know if they are re-aging debts, which I know is illegal, do they have to remove the item entirely, or do they just have to set it right, as in to it's original closing date?
3 AnswersCredit1 decade agoHelp with Limits homework?
I need help with my math homework!
When an object is propelled straight up into the air, it's position as the vertical distance above the ground can be given as a function of time. Suppose that the function is s(t)= -16t^2 + 96t + 112.
There are several parts to the question, but I'm stuck at:
Find a formula for the velocity of the object as a function of time.
There is a formula for instantaneous velocity, but I don't know where to plug in which numbers. The formula is:
velocity = the limit as h approaches zero times the fraction s(t+h) -s(t) over h = s'(t)
What on earth does this mean?!
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoWhy is my credit score different?
I have 2 different accounts that give me all three bureau scores, and I pulled my credit report from both of them today, around the same time. Each of them gave me different scores from the same bureau, and one was drastically lower than the other. Can anyone explain why? All of the same credit information has been reported on both of the accounts.

I feel if people were educated more on the election process and how to find facts, as opposed to listening to campaign ads, we would have more intelligent conversation and debate on politics.
Yes, it's everyone's right to vote, but with right comes responsibility.
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoAnyone know what's wrong with my Acura?
My car shakes like you would not believe. I feel like it's coming from the underside of the car, but considering I know jack about cars, I'd like a few guesses, so that way when I take it to the mechanic I can sound relatively educated.
When I accelerate, and when the tachometer (is that what it's called?) is between 2 and 3 it gets really shaky, and sort of sounds like it's grinding a little. The whole care shakes, but I feel like it's originating from the front driver's side.
Any ideas? I know you're not with the car, haven't driven it, and can't really diagnose it, but I'd just like a ballpark guess.
Oh, and it's a 1990 Acura Integra. That's right, I roll old school.

My aunt is there, and she's not doing too great. But I want to help her feel like she's still a woman and she's still beautiful.

Do you think that would be allowed in the CCU?

5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCalculus Help, Optimization Problems?
A farmer has $1500 available to build and E shaped fence along a straight river so as to create two identical rectangular pastures. The materials for the side parallel to the river cost $6 per foot and the materials for the three sections perpendicular to the river cost $5 per foot. Find the dimensions for which the total area is as large as possible.
What I have so far:
A = xy (Objective function)
1500 = 15y + 2x (Constraint equation)
I know I'm supposed to isolate a variable, I chose y, and I got:
y = 100 - 2/15x
I know you put that back into the objective function, but I'm having issues with that. I pretty much suck at fractions. Don't ask how you make it to calculus but suck at fractions. All I know is that I need help!
Please write out each step like you're teaching a complete buffoon, because you pretty much are.
