  • Does the concept of a 'city farm' exist in the US?

In the UK, a city farm is a small area (a few acres), usually in a deprived area of the inner city, that has livestock and vegetable gardens. These city farms are charities and rely heavily on volunteers, and allow members of the public in for free or for a small charge. The primary purpose of city farms is not to produce food, but rather to educate people on where their food comes from, and to give people a chance to see agriculture in action, even though they may never visit a rural farm.

Are there any city farms in the US?

  • Where can I buy some fairy wings (UK & offline)?

I need some fairy wings by Wednesday (for a fancy dress thing) and I can't buy online. Where can I find some in a shop in the UK. Gothic style ones are preferable, but pink ones will do and they need to be fairly cheap.

  • How should I decorate my Psychology & Physics files?

I want to decorate my lever arches for next year (AS level btw). I have covered my Government & Politics file with a layer of columns from political stories, cut into 1 column wide squares. I glued that on and then added some political headlines and, finally, the words "Government and Politics" in single letters from newspapers and magazines.

My Geography file has pictures cut out from the travel section of the newspaper, and, again, the word "Geography" in single letters cut out from the newspaper.

I want to decorate my Physics and Psychology files as well, with things that are related to the subject. It doesn't really have to be things from a newspaper, just so long as it looks nice and is related to the subject.

  • Where was the Germany vs. Portugal game held last week?

It was either on Wednesday 18th or Thursday 19th. Was it held in / around the district of Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin, and if not, why was there such a massive football crowd there that night?

  • How can we get from Schoenfeld to Jugendherberge am Wannsee using public transport?

We will be arriving on Monday evening at the airport, and we need to get to "Jugendherberge Berlin - Am Wannsee". The address is:

    Badeweg 1

    14129 Berlin - Zehlendorf

We will be using public transport to get there (please don't suggest a taxi!). We don't mind if it's not a direct route, i.e. if we have to go into Berlin to get a bus to the Jugendherberge. However, we'd really like to know the route number and where to catch it.

    Thank you!

  • Berlin & Potsdam on a budget?

We're going to Berlin from this Monday to Saturday. We've already got flights & accomodation (a youth hostel) sorted.

However, we're going on a budget and would like to know what touristy things we can do for free / cheaply in Berlin and Potsdam.

Plus, are there any particularly vegetarian friendly cafes around?

I have a reasonable amount of German (enough to get me by with a little pointing and the odd bit of English), so that's not really a concern.

    Thank you!

  • How can you make oil paints dry quickly?

I have to finish a couple of oil paintings (done on paper) for my Art coursework. I'm planning on having them finished by Sunday, but how can I make them dry quicker, so that I can hand them in on Tuesday? They will have to be dry enough to be in a file without being smudged.

Would putting them in front of a fan heater work? Or would it cause cracks or something in the paint?

    Help!

  • Is there anywhere in America that is . . .?

    - Not too hot in summer (i.e. no more than 35C)

    - Not covered in snow in winter for months on end (I don't mind a little bit, but I don't want to be wearing skiing kit all winter lol)

    - Not cram-jam full of evangelical Christians (they wouldn't like me much)

    - Adequate rainfall - i.e. enough for grass without using a hose

    - Got a decent university

Bit of a tall order I know, but any answers appreciated :D
