12 AnswersOther - Ireland1 decade agoCan an Italian hotel sue me for not cancelling?
I booked a hotel in Italy for 5 nights, but couldn't travel as my mother (who was to travel with me) fell on some ice and broke her leg. I didn't get a chance to cancel the hotel as I was in the hospital and didn't have access to a computer or didn't have the hotel phone number. I got a very rude email from the hotel saying they were going to get tier lawyers to pursue me for the first nights stay (I used a pre paid credit card to book as that's all I have, so they were unable to charge the night themselves) I sent them an email explaining what happened, but they don't care. What are my rights in this situation?
P.S :I wasnt even asked to make the payment for the first night( €92) in the email. I was threatened with the hotels lawyer straight off.
