I enjoy Yahoo Answers and I come fairly often. Even if it appears that I haven't asked or answered for a while I've probably browsed today or yesterday. I have lots of random knowledge on many topics so I hope I'm able to help. I don't normally answer loads of random questions but questions where I know what I'm talking about. So, if I've taken my time to answer, what I write is correct or at least very accurate and not just a statement. I usually only answer questions that I know a good bit, or a lot, about and therefore I get a good many best answers. I'm not here for the points... that's just how it works. I'm 50+ now so I have many years of experiences to pull from. Married, divorced, have a son, I've traveled some, built my own home with my own hands, worked on cars, appliances, etc, etc. Email me if you need more info on something I've said.

  • Where can I find a drivers side door lock actuator for a 2010 Jeep Liberty?

The lock actuator in the drivers door of my 2010 Jeep Liberty has stopped working. I've looked a good bit online but what I've found so far is never crystal clear that it's the right part. Do you know of a good site where I can find one and be comfortable that I'm getting the right part? Have you ever had to change out a door lock actuator and have any advice?

I've already had the door panel off and looked at everything inside the door and it appears to be a really easy fix if I can just find the right part. Thanks!

  • Can you recommend a guitar strap?

I bought my son a guitar last summer for his birthday. This one http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Acoustic-Electric... in the natural finish. I want to get him a strap for it for Christmas but I don't know anything about straps. What will fit it? I can see it has a post on the bottom where it connects but what about the other end of the strap? Does a typical strap come with everything he'll need or will I need an accessory to connect it at the other end?

I like some straps I've found on etsy. Here are some I like a lot

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/201550444/boney-shoul...

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/188380964/handmade-le...

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/186871834/straight-ah...

Will any of these work on that guitar? o you have any that you like that are similar in style to these that you would recommend? Thanks so much for your advice!

  • Where can I find a FREE download of a 2007 Scion tc owners manual?

I bought my son a 2007 Scion tc this week and it didn't have the owners manual in the glove box. Where can I get one that I can download for free online?

I don't need a link to the small overview manual that is very easy to find online. I have that already.

I read in a thread on a Scion owners website that you can contact Scion and they will send you one for free. Does anyone know if that is true? I have gone to the site and didn't find anything there about being able to get one and there was no where to order one either. I haven't tried to contact them yet but I will soon unless someone can help me fine one otherwise.

    Thanks for your help!

  • How strict is Allegiant Air about carry on bags dimensions?

We're going to be flying soon on Allegiant Airlines and their carry on bag policy states that you can bring on a bag that is 9 x 14 x 22 inches "including any wheels and handles" etc. The bags I have used for years and have always carried on other airlines are these exact measurements "not" including the wheels and handles.

I figure the bags I have are standard size and I can't imagine them being so strict as to get picky about the "wheels and handles" when boarding but it's written into the wording about baggage size limits.

Has anyone flown with them and had any issues with bag size? Or, has your experience been that they aren't as strict in person when boarding as the rules on their website imply?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • How to transfer outlook 2003 files to a new computer with outlook 2013? Help!!?

My mom has an 8 year old computer and she's always used outlook express for her email. I know absolutely nothing about outlook but it's on me to try to figure out how to move all of her contacts, emails etc etc to her new computer with outlook 2013. Help!!!

I need EASY instructions on how to do it. Maybe a link to a good video? I can do it if I have EASY instructions so if you know of a place online that can help me would be much appreciated.

Did I mention it needs to be EASY to understand?

I have found some instructions online but the people who write these pieces use all kinds of abbreviations instead of spelling things out. How am I supposed to know what they mean with their abbreviations? EASY is the key!

  • How to get information on a deceased spouses annuity that you weren't aware existed?

The wife of a good friend of mine passed away 2 and a half years ago. A couple of months ago he was contacted by a company she had invested in an annuity with in the mid 1980's for roughly 7 years through her job at that time. My friend had no knowledge of this annuity until they contacted him.

He gathered all the info they required like the death certificate, her will and the fact that he is her sole heir, etc etc. He promptly sent all the requested info and then heard nothing. He has contacted them numerous times over the past several weeks and just keeps getting the run around and no one will let him speak with the lady who initially contacted him. He has asked for any type of statements and or accounting of this annuity and they make all kind of excuses as to why it's not available etc.

They were able to calculate he would be entitled to a payment of something like $25 a month beginning in the year 2024. But then won't provide any facts or figures to show how they came up with this crazy figure and date.

Something is very wrong here but I don't have any experience along these lines to give him any advice other than to see a lawyer. I told him to send a certified letter requesting an accounting of any monies but I figure they won't respond and are just waiting him out so he'll give up. I don't know why they contacted him to begin with unless it was a mistake on the part of the lady who called him.

What can he do? If you have any experience in this area I would greatly appreciate your input. Please don't waste your time and mine with stupid answers. Thoughtful informative answers only please!

    Thanks!

  • Will using bluetooth a lot drain the battery of my Samsung tablet?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 tablet that I keep with me at work all day. I use it almost exclusively to keep an eye on the stock market and not much else. I'm thinking about getting a speaker that has bluetooth capability that I can let my tablet play music through during the day while I'm working. I have used a radio for years and the stations I like to listen to have a poor signal in my area but I can listen to them through my tablet on iheart radio.

I was wondering, how much of a drain this will be on the battery of my tablet? It will be transmitting a signal up to 8 hours a day with the screen being used occasionally as I check my stocks or change the station. I think it will be ok but I wondered if anyone else had much experience with using a tablet this way.

Thanks for your advice and input!

  • Your preference between a Kindle Fire HD 7inch and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 7inch tablet?

I am looking at getting one of these 2 tablets and I'm leaning towards the Samsung. Do you have any experience with these small tablets and have some advice as to their pros and cons?

Please don't preach to me about a different brand or a different size etc etc... I don't need any geeky rants about something else you think is better either. Both of these fit what I need and now I'm just trying to decide which one.

    Thanks for any helpful input.

  • How do I adjust the size of the pilot light fame on my gas logs?

The pilot light on my propane gas logs seems very long to me and as a result I suspect it's wasteful too. The flame is over 2 inches long and probably closer to 2 1/2 inches. I have seen the pilot on lots of other gas log sets and they're usually around 1/2 inch to maybe 1 inch. Mine seems to be to be way out of whack. Is it?

Is there an adjustment screw or valve of some sort adjacent to the pilot or some other place that adjusts the size of the flame? Please don't tell me to call someone to work on it. That's not an answer to my question. I simply need to know the procedure.

If you know of any online videos that explain how to properly adjust the pilot would be great too. I have looked some through YouTube videos and I haven't come across one yet that is specific to what I'm needing to know. Maybe you know of one?

    Thanks!

  • Why does the propane gas in the line to the fireplace vanish between seasons?

My mom has gas logs in her fireplace and I light the pilot every year around November and then turn it off in late March. Every year in order to get the pilot lit I have to disconnect the gas line at the logs and open the valve a bit until gas flows and can be smelled. This can take a minute or so. Then the pilot lights just fine when all is reconnected.

The tank outside is about 50 feet away and 8-10 feet lower than the logs. Does the propane in the line fall back to the tank over the months it's not in use and get displaced by air or what? I've had to light her logs this way for at least the last 5 years and it works fine but seems crazy.

I have gas logs in my home with the tank about the same distance away but on about the same level as my logs. Mine light easily every fall and I don't have to disconnect the line or do much of anything other than turn it to pilot and press the spark button.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • What happens to shareholders in the event of a buyout?

I currently hold a good bit of stock (for me) in a small medical research company and I've been reading message board rumors that it may be bought out as some point in the near future. If a huge company buys them out how does that impact the shareholders? Any light you can shed on something like this would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what types of question to even ask. I purchased this stock as a long term investment and now with the possibility of a buyout looming I'm not sure if I should sell at some point or if this is going to be a good thing for me going forward.

Please save any put downs of criticisms for someone else. It seems there are many who only come here to smugly sit on their high horse and judge instead of help. I'm only asking a question and not looking to be attacked.

But, if you have any thoughtful advice I would appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Good source for used or salvaged auto parts? Looking for Jeep nerf step bars...?

I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty and I'd like to buy some step/nerf bars for it. New ones are very expensive and I was wondering if anyone new of a source for quality salvaged or used parts. There are lots of vehicles that are totaled and the good parts are stripped off and resold. I'd be perfectly happy with a set from a wrecked Jeep as long as they aren't damaged.

Here is a link where you can see the type of thing I'm wanting http://www.amazon.com/Aries-201005-Black-Side-Step...

  • RV camping in the Gatlinburg, TN area recommendations?

We have a camper and are thinking about pulling it to the Gatlinburg area next Friday and staying 2 nights. I've been to Gatlinburg many times but have never camped there. Do you have any advice or recommendations as to campgrounds etc?

Does the trolley stop in any of the campgrounds either in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? That may be a nice way to get around. But campgrounds a little farther out are not out of the question too if they're very nice. Or, other areas in the region that we may like that you know of would be great to hear about too!

Any ideas or advice from your experience is greatly appreciated!

  • Can my 20 year old son continue to stay on my health insurance or does he have to get it through his new job?

I asked this question earlier but some people can't seem to understand that I purchase health insurance privately for myself and my son. Before I get to the question let me be clear... I do not have health insurance available through my job. My question is about continuing to carry my son on my current private policy or am I required to drop him. What follows is my question just as I have posted it before:

I have carried my son on my private health insurance for many years. He has decided to take some time off from school and work a while. He started working a full time job about 6 weeks ago and will be eligible to get health insurance through his job after 90 days.

What are the guidelines for this situation? I worry that after a few months he'll decide he's made a bad choice and will want to quit this job and go on to school like I had hoped. In the meantime he's determined that he wants to work for a year or 2 and figure out what he wants to do with his life.

I don't know if he can just stay on my policy and not join the group health insurance at his job or not. Can you give me some guidance on this if you are familiar with the laws/rules regarding such a situation.

Any thoughtful advice is much appreciated!

  • Where can I find excellent free examples of an Affidavit Of Character?

I need to write an Affidavit Of Character. I have looked a good bit online and I've found a few that are ok but not great. When I do a search many links take me to a site that doesn't show you anything or is trying to sell you a service to write one etc.

Do you know of a particular site that has very good examples? I am very comfortable with writing one but a good sample as my guide would be most helpful. Any links would be greatly appreciated!

  • Any experience with hotels in Port Canaveral that let you leave your car there while on your cruise?

My fiance is going to take her daughter on a cruise out of Port Canaveral next month. They will drive down and spend the night near the port the day before departure. I've been looking online at places for them to stay that night and a lot of hotels offer a park and cruise deal. Do you have any experience with that?

    Any advice would be great!

Things like the best hotels in your experience for this type of deal. Do they have a fenced in area for the cars?

    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to get a misdemeanor expunged in NC if the person was barely over 18 years old?

My son stupidly was caught with some pot almost 2 years ago 10 days after his 18th birthday. He was found guilty of a misdemeanor, put on probation etc etc. He has worked hard to clean up his act since then and is very regretful of all the crap he put us through.

We hired an attorney for him at the time and I liked the guy a lot. He was very helpful in guiding us through the process. As a part of our meeting with him he told us after at least 2 years with no additional incidents my son could come back to him and work on getting this expunged.

I've done a good bit of reading on the topic and NC law lately since it won't be a lot longer until the 2 year point. From what I've read of NC law on the matter an expungement is only possible when the crime was committed under age 18. The law allows for alcohol violations to be expunged for those under age 21.

Our attorney was adamant at the time that my son could get this expunged. I didn't know much about it at the time and didn't question him much about it. I intend to move forward with this before much longer and go see this attorney again.

Will it be possible for my son to get this expunged since he was 18 at the time but only by 10 days? Would a judge allow this to be fudged or are a judges hands tied? What do you think?

I'm just looking for answers from people very familiar with this type of thing so please save any snarky comments for someone else.

Thanks so much for your help and taking the time to read this!
