  • I got the job, my colleague didn't. How do I approach it?

So three of us went for the same job. I was offered the position. Obviously I know to be sympathetic, understanding and not go round celebrating in front of the other two. Naturally I know they are likely to be a bit sad and down about it. Luckily when my shift ends my colleague starts, so besides an interaction briefly over the phone I won't see them until tomorrow.

Can anyone think of any other advice?

  • How long before 4k tv and films become mainstream?

I've noticed 4k tvs are becoming reasonable in price. Pushing the lower end of $1000. 8K tvs still seem to be at least $3000.

In the UK i've noticed that there isn't a huge amount of 4K content. How long does it typically take for it to become main stream?

  • What do you call it when multiple cultures come under one?

So for example when you go to Disney Land despite South America being made up of many countries they generalise it in to being Mexico.

Same with Asia, they only show China.

Is there a name for this?

  • Hong Kong, seperate from China?

Hong Kong has always been the gateway to China and for business. However as it is now part of China do we think as time goes on it will slowly be stripped of this title and will just become another city in China where you can not enter visa free?

  • Mental health and coronavirus?

In a normal year I enjoy being at home but I do the occassional holiday, day trip perhaps by train, see friends, family and pub meals. Since covid 19 it feels like one continuous cycle of work, eat, sleep repeat.. I feel in myself like i'm more tired than normal, sleeping longer and a little de-motivated. I don't believe it's depression just the never end cycle of the same thing.

Does anyone else feel this way?

  • Is it important for a gay guy to come out?

My partner grew up in the UK. His father is Jamaican and his mother Brasilian. He came out to his mum 2 years ago. His dad 1 year ago. His mum took it well but is avoiding it now and his dad couldn't deal with it at the time.

Since then nothing has changed. I've been over twice but his parents have been unwilling to come downstairs. He isn't good at confrontation and thinks if they don't want to accept it or make the effort then they just won't be part of our future. I want him to make the effort because if we move in together I don't want them to resent me as the one who took him away from them.

In addition if we get married in the future would I want them there? Also I can only kee white lying to my parents for so long about knowing them. If he doesn't think it's worth the effort for them to know me should I care so much about it?

Part of me thinks If he's not going to make the effort should I be with him? The other thinks how much if any will it impact our future

  • My partner coming out?

    Hi there,

Me and my parther have been going out for just over 2 years. He came out to his mum 5 months in and then his dad August this year.

They both took it not so well, his mum worries he'll have an unhappy life and his dad can't accept it right now.

May be I'm being unfair because I am a few years older so I am out earlier and my family really like him. I want the same with his parents however I know that may not happen.

I just don't want to be in the same place 2 years from now. It takes a lot to motivate him and I feel things in that respect are moving too slowly.

If someone told you they'd been going out for over 2 years and you'd never met his sister what would you say? I admit she is quite religious and wasn't very accepting at first
