  • Baggage allowance on Virgin Long haul?

Are you allowed 2 cases per person each weighing up to 23kg on a Virgin long haul flight (Barbados)? Would be handy if thats true so we can take 3 cases between the 2 of us rather than have to leave lots of clothes behind !!

  • Rainy days in Barbados?

I am off to barbados for honeymoon on the 29th of this month. Have noticed a lot of the websites recently have been saying the forecast is for scattered showers. I know June/July have the most rainy days in Barbados but is it consistent drizzle throughout the day or more like a sudden downpour for an hour and then all is sunny again?

  • Do they do short cruises (3-4 days)?

Interested in doing a cruise but don't want to commit to a 7,10 day one in case we don't like it. Do they do any 3-4 day 'taster' cruises around the med so that you can experience what they are like?

  • UK Mortgage advice needed?

I temp in The City in the banking industry, following redundancy a year ago after 18 years employment with Natwest. Will my salary be taken into account when me and my girlfriend apply for a mortgage, given that I am not in a 'permanent' role and move jobs every 6 months or so. We would have over 15% deposit of the property's value.

  • Calculating inflation?

Ok, so petrol is up a lot, gas and electricity is up a lot, mortgages are up a lot, food prices at the supermarket are up a lot. How comes inflation is still only 2.5% ?

Can anyone list what is used to get this inflation figure - I presume there are some cheaper things such as LCD/Plasma TVs but what else is keeping the inflation level around the 2.5% mark?

  • 3 pin plugs?

On a standard uk 3 pin plug does the pin at the top(or bottom I suppose) that is on its own, serve any purpose other than for extra support. I have one attached to a speaker system that has snapped right off(it seems to be just plastic) - can I plug it in and use, with only the 2 pins next to eachother (the ones with the metal tips)

  • The Earths magnetic force?

I have heard that the Earths magnetic field has changes several times throughout history.

Is the polarity of the Earth gonna change in the near future?

i.e - compasses etc will point to magnetic south rather than magnetic north?. How will this affect us apart from putting our compasses out? Do we know when this is likely or how long ago it last changed?
