  • 1999 Ford Ranger that won't turn over, maybe the security system? I need a truck bad!10 points to solution.?

Hi I have a 1999 Ford Ranger. It will crank but not turn over.

It has the original key, computer, sensors are good, computers are good (all the electronic modules were checked by a professional), I know the fuel pump works as it whirs when you turn the key, starter runs well, checked all fuses and relays, battery is good.

When I turn the ignition to ON the lights come on and everything is normal. I go to crank it and it sounds great when cranking BUT JUST WON'T START ><

A mechanic told me that the security system can cause this problem. The radio has been taken out by the previous owner. Is there a theft light anywhere? If so, is it supposed to be in the radio or in the cluster?

Please help with this, it's my only ride at the moment. A SURE 10 points to whoever can help me figure this out.

    Thanks.

  • How large is the new size for avatars?

I've read the blog about the new change over http://yanswersblog.com/index.php/archives/2010/11... and I do not see anywhere about what the actual pixel by pixel limitation is for avatars now? Or is it still 48x48 (or was it 50x50?)?

  • Using 64 bit Windows Vista?

Don't answer if you're going to flame Vista. Don't answer if you haven't used Vista 64 bit.

Hi I need some help with choosing my operating system on my new comp. I am getting Home Premium and can't decide if I should get the 32 or 64 bit version. Some past accounts with the 64 bit OS would be nice. How does gaming perform on 64 bit and what are some well-known titles that don't work on 64?

I know about some things, such as how much memory 32 bit and 64 bit supports and I've read in blogs on how people have trouble with drivers and software on 64 bit.

Also, here is the computer I plan on building for this OS:

    ASUS P5KC Motherboard

    Intel e8400 CPU

    G.Skill DDR-2 800 2 GB RAM

    EVGA 8800 GT Graphics card

    Corsair 450 Watt PSU

Seagate Barracuda 250 GB Hard Drive

    Samsung 2253BW LCD Monitor

    Lite-On SATA DVD-Burner

    Logitech G5 Mouse

    Logitech G11 Keyboard

    Thanks!

  • Third party firewalls better than XP SP2 firewall?

I've never used anything other than XP's firewall, but some people insist that programs such as ZoneAlarm's firewall is better than even XP's. Is this true? If yes, then exactly HOW much better and is the difference worth the trouble?

  • Why isn't Cox allowing me to self-install my cable internet?

I went on their site, and it only has one option for installation, the "professional installation" for $100 -_- . I then called Cox and a rep told me that since I didn't currently have cable services that I can't have the self-install kit which is only like $30. However, my friend who lives across the street said that they shipped him the self-install kit and he never had any prior Cox services. I do have a cable line running into my apartment.

BTW, I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana if that helps.

  • Is it possible to legally get a copy of Windows XP if you have the product key?

I still have the product key sticker on the bottom of my laptop, but lost my "windows recovery cd" a long time ago. Would Microsoft or HP (who made my laptop) be able to send me or give me a download of Windows XP for free?

  • How can I get a job in the Computer Tech workforce?

I've been studying up on the A+ certification but am not even really sure I need it. The most experience I have with fixing computers is fixing my friends' computers and general tinkering around with unused systems. I've called Best Buy, their Geek Squad isn't hiring ATM and CompUSA is going out of business.

Is there any other way to start work as a PC tech somewhere?

  • Would medicine school still accept me even though I dropped out of my first semester 2 years ago?

I wanted to be a doctor 2 years ago when I first went to school, but dropped out of my first semester. Everyone I talk to say there's no hope for it anymore. Do I still have a chance?
