  • Tell me about El Paso, Texas...PLEASE!?

I am a small town girl from Alabama. I admit I have been fairly sheltered when it comes to living the big city life. We have only been to one duty station and that is here in Arizona, Well my husband just got orders for us to move to El Paso, Fort Bliss, Texas in June. I called housing and the wait is over a year and a half long!

So we have to find a place off post. I am thinking that our best bet is to move into an apartment somewhere but I don't know where would be the safest place to go!? I have heard many contradictory things and I am so confused and quite frankly a little terrified to be honest.

Can anyone please give me some advice on what apartments would be safe and what areas of El Paso are safest. My husband is going to be working on base (obviously) and I am going to be home alone with my daughter for the most part. I really want to be somewhere safe and not have to worry about getting my car broken into, drug dealers or drive bys. I hope I am not sounding prejudice or anything I am just going off of what I have heard. So please forgive me if it seems that way.

I would really appreciate any and all advice that you guys can give me :) Thank you!

*We found these nice apartments called Monterrey Gardens. Does anyone know about them or anything? I haven't been able to come across any reviews for these apartments or anything...Dunno if thats a good thing or a bad thing? Humm....

My friend has a little boy who is five months old now and she just found out that she is pregnant again. Kinda crazy in my book, but to each his own.

    How about you ladies?

My daughter is ten months old and I am wanting to have another child once she is potty trained...I can't imagine going to the store to get two boxes of different sized diapers. No thanks! lol.

  • What to wear for Thanksgiving?

This is my daughters first Thanksgiving and I want her to look really cute and festive. But I DO NOT know what to dress her in. I have this cute little red sweater for her and black leggings but I was afraid it would look to much like Christmas.

Can you give me any suggestions for what I should dress her in? I don't want her to look crazy. And Lord we have a TON of pink stuff. But again I was worried it wouldn't look appropriate for the holiday.

Man I sound like a spaz! But I would really love the help!

  • Where would I find my daughters birth announcement?

My daughter was born in May 2009. Before we left the hospital I filled out paperwork that stated that a birth announcement could be put in the local newspaper.

I have yet to see her birth announcement in the paper. I have been trying to see if I could find it online and have not had any luck there either. I really want to get my hands on this so I can add it to her scrapbook from her birth.

Do you have any idea where I can look to find her birth announcement?

  • What do you think about the new movie Paranormal Activity?

I ever so bravely watched Paranormal Activity tonight and I have to say that it was pretty scary. For me, most of the time when I watch horror movies I just tell myself that its just a movie...but with this one! No way! The scary thing is that this is something real and something that we do not have any control over.

My favorite part was the powdered foot prints. What were those things anyways? They looked like money foot prints or something, not human. I guess this was the "demon" foot prints. I do have to say that Mika was so crazy for staying with that crazy possessed girl! That was just crazy! LOL. When she was laying in the bed and convincing him it was okay for them to stay, I was losing my mind! Then when she had this creepy looking smile on her face, I wanted to pee my pants! Did anyone else think she sounded like a little girl?

I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight lol.

So if you have seen this movie what were your favorite things about it and what were some things that you would have changed? Its your chance to be a movie critic! :)

  • Child beauty pageant controversy?

I am having to write a paragraph for my English paper. It is an Argument paragraph and I have chosen to write about the highly controversial pageantry world for children. I would appreciate it if you guys would read it and let me know of anything that I should include in it. Thank u :)

For the past few decades pageants for young girls have become very controversial. The outrageous costumes, explicit dance choreography, and the amount of makeup worn by these tiny participants have just become to much. Parents are dropping thousands of dollars on entry fees, travel expenses, clothing, makeup and all things that can be thought of in order to transform these tots into miniature show girls. These pageants defend their reputation by saying that they are simplify there to help the girls with their self esteem and image. In reality these girls are being taught that sex sells and in order to win these pageants , they must change their image and take on the premature role of a "grown up". In turn these little girls are growing up with a warped sense of female sexuality and that in order to accepted in society they must change everything about themselves.

  • Will I have to pay if I drop out?

I am a full time college student and I have been rewarded a grant to help pay for my schooling. I am having to take a 3 credit class in order to maintain my 10 credit hours. It is an online History class that I do not even need for my major.

I am not familiar with the rules or regulations but I was wondering if anyone could help me with this dilemma that I am having.

I am finding that I do not have enough time in the day to participate in the required discussions and other things for this class. I have heard that if you fail the class rather than dropping out that you will not be required to pay the money back for that class.

Does anyone know what I am talking about and can anyone tell me what I should do? I really can not afford to pay back that money but I really don't wanna fail either.

Also, ideas on how to increase the chances of trick-or-treaters to come to my house. We live in the old neighborhood and its not visited much. I was thinking about making signs or something...

  • Help with Adding and Subtracting Fractions?

I am learning how to add and subtract fractions and I am SOOOO lost. I just do not understand it at all! Can someone please show me a way step by step to help me better understand how to do this?

    Example problem:

    13 2/7

    + 4 1/28

    ________

17 9/28 (answer according to the book)

I understand that you have to find a Least common multiple and all that stuff but I just don't understand where you get the rest of it from. I feel really stupid. Its been forever since I have done this stuff...I am in a college class.

Please show me how to subtract fractions too.

    Here is an example:

    12 3/4

    - 8 5/16

    __________

    21 1/16

    Thanks so much!

  • Can you guess who this is?

This is what I have so far:

The strangest looking man you have ever seen is about three inches tall and always has a black top hat perched on top of his head. We all have seen him a time or two and here and there. We do not pay much attention to this happy, nutty gentleman, but if you were to ever take the time to look at him you would see what a nice man he is. With his sleek black cane grasped tightly in his left hand he gives us all a friendly wave. His hands are covered in clean white gloves. In his eye is a glassy spectacle helping him to see near and far.

By no means do I feel comfortable turning this into my teacher tomorrow for a final grade. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me make this sound better. Basically all I have is just random stuff thrown together about the Planters Peanut man. That is all I could come up to write about at the time lol.

  • Your idea of people from Alabama?

I am from Alabama and I am currently living in Arizona. My husband is military. It seems that a lot of people have this idea that people from Alabama are just country hicks that barely know their ABC's and are all inbred. Whats up with that?
