How many non-Indians out there are aware of Bollywood, the Indian film industry?
I have had a number of non-Indians, mostly from the middle-east, come and tell methat they loved the Hindi movies more than the Hollywood ones, because they could related to it, culturally and loved the 'song-and-dance' sequences, especially since it was not produced in their country.
Trivia - It is the biggest in the world, it produces almost double the number of movies and sells a billion more tickets each year than Hollywood.

I'm aware of bollywood but most bollywood movies ive seen have been crap - i prefer the hong kong martial arts movies that i also can't understand the dialogue on but at least have good action scenes in them - I'm english from england so Im not enamoured by hollywood love old stuff from the pinewood studios..im more a sci fi buff than anything else..I know from reading sci fi that often the best sellling is of the lowest quality (the authors admit it) so ticket sales means didly squat
Source(s): bend it like beckham isnt a bollywood movie it just is in the theme of bollywood by english actors that happen to be of indian descent they didnt make it in india so it's not bollywood same as if they made it in canada it isnt hollywood - 1 decade ago
I am aware of the famous Bollywood Industry. I stumbled on a bollywood movie some years ago and was trying to find it in block buster, it was Karma sutra, a love affair, great movie, and I love ASOKA!
Bollywood movies are so unique, and have beautiful, bold colors! The movie style is so different than of hollywood. I like different, I can appreciate other styles of acting and singing, change is always nice to have!

Bollywood Films are made in India. I've seen some I like and some I don't care for. One thing is for sure...they are different. You can find Bollywood films on Netflix

yes I have heard of it. I like the Bollywood version of Superman where Superman shows off his superpowers by break dancing. Just because it sells more tickets doesn't mean it is better. However, I have a lot of fun watching.

Are you just curious? Hmm? Meh...okay that was lame. I don't know. A better question would be, What's your opinion on films in general and their influence on Muslims? But, since this ain't the question, I'll say I think it's a damaging influence. Meh..I have nothing intelligent to say after that.

the first few times I heard the term bollywood I thought it was a typo or some kind of knock off studio, good for them and their success.
