'Babel' or 'Flags of Our Fathers'? Which one would you watch?
If you had a choice between the 2 - which one is a 'must see'?
5 AnswersMovies1 decade agoHow do you comfort someone who has had a miscarriage?
It is my close friend. She always says that she is "physically" OK and has indicated that she does not want to speak about it much. However I feel talking about it and crying would give her closure - not clamming up.
I am also afraid she may be afraid to concieve again. Any suggestions, since I know she does want another child (she already has a 2.5 year old)
24 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhy do you support (or condone) death penalty?
12 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDo you believe that the world of art knows no religion or race?
Be it music, dance, fine art, literature, theatre - people from all race and religion are accepted in this world without much prejudice, unlike say, politics or government.
4 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities1 decade agoWhat are the pros and cons of abortion?
Try to list both sides and then tell me why you support one over the other. I am trying to understand this whole issue without being judgemental. (For example I heard on NPR today someone say he is pro-choice but with some limitations. I want to understand where one draws the line).
26 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoAre banks justified in charging high ATM withdrawl fees?
A lot of banks in the US charge an ATM withdrawl fee which is in my opinion on a higher side. ATMs are actually less costly for banks than withdrawals from human tellers.
It is not possible to carry a lot of cash and when some businesses demand cash only (because they have low profit margins and they in turn get ripped off by financing institutions when using credit cards!)
And if you run to the nearest ATM, chances are it is not your bank's ATM and so you pay as much as $2 for withdrawing money.
Is there any way to do away with this?
6 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhy do most cultures give boys more advantages over girls?
Even the US, which considers itself 'developed', has yet to elect a woman president!
But apart from that, most developing nations would rather sustain a boy child than a girl child (sometimes even bringing about her death due to negligence).
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhen the demographics of the US is changing rapidly, why do most commercials still have anglo-saxon models?
There are a few African-American models, but Hispanic or Asian models are rarely seen. Especially when Mexicans, Chinese and Indian people make up a large population of the buying community.
9 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoCan I change my nationality and still feel a strong attachment for my country of birth?
Very soon I will be becoming an American citizen - it a choice I made for a better life for me and my family. I will uphold every promise I make to my new country and be proud to be a citizen here.
But somewhere deep down I still feel strongly for my natural motherland as well, India, and a great pride of belonging to it - for example some songs about Indian patriotism and it's fight for freedom and will make me emotional as no American songs/ poems can, I can identify myself more for what Gandhi stood for than any American leader (no offence meant here), and so on.
Is this a feeling that is just peculiar to me or has anyone who has been in my situation felt it? Serious answers only, please!
17 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoCan anyone suggest a good GPS navigational system at a reasonable price? Where exactly can I buy it?
I would say around $500? If you know of something better but more expensive, please let me know why you would recommend it.
4 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoCan you suggest 5 major ways to save the earth from being polluted and uninhabitable?
Mine are -
1. Recycle and re-use - saves trees, energy and is less polluting.
2. Use energy efficient cars or use public transport, carpool or walk where u can.
3. Donot waste food - wastage leads to high costs of food and less food for starving millions.
4. Reduce use of airconditioners/ heaters.
5. And my favourite - teach another person to do the same, preferably your kids.
18 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade agoAny tips on how parents can contribute suggestions to their child's school?
For example my son's school in the UK had a 'buddy' program where an older child from a higher grade was teamed off with an younger child from the lower grade year to prevent older kids bullying younger ones- they used to spend a couple of periods every week doing fun activities together.
The teachers also encouraged the class to actively participate in recycle programs where leftover food, plastic bottles or used papers were dumped in respective bins to encourage kids to be aware of the importance of recycling.
I was wondering if there is a way where as a parent I could suggest these methods in my son's school here in US without intruding into the school's policies?
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoAnyone knows of any DVD player that will play DVDs from both USA as well as European DVDs?
I think they are Region 1 and region 2, respectively
3 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoHow should I invest for my kids' college education?
What amount should I put away every month? What type of investments should I consider?
(I have been told not to invest in the children's names as I will have not control over the money once they turn 18 and it might be misused).
5 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoHow many non-Indians out there are aware of Bollywood, the Indian film industry?
I have had a number of non-Indians, mostly from the middle-east, come and tell methat they loved the Hindi movies more than the Hollywood ones, because they could related to it, culturally and loved the 'song-and-dance' sequences, especially since it was not produced in their country.
Trivia - It is the biggest in the world, it produces almost double the number of movies and sells a billion more tickets each year than Hollywood.
21 AnswersMovies1 decade agoHow can I get an estimate of how much mortgage I can get to buy a house? Any tips? Serious answers, please!?

5 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoDoes anyone think UPS sucks big time? I had this delivery person who was rude to me?
I ORDERED A GIFT FOR MY SON'S 5TH BIRTHDAY AND THE SENDER FORGOT TO MENTION MY APT NUMBER. They didn't contact either me or the sender (who was open at that time in the afternoon at 4 pm). I would atleast think some common sense would be used to contact either sender or reciever for a confirmation of sorts? But I guess they appoint boneheads as delivery persons? Just use you brwan not brains....
ALL THEY SAID WAS " TOUGH LUCK!" EVEN AFTER I BEGGED AN EARLY DELIVERY THE NEXT DAY. I FEEL I LET MY SON DOWN _ - CAN ALMOST SEE HIS DISAPPOINTED FACE TOMORROW MORNING!
9 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoCan anyone figure out why people mix up 'Hindu' (religion) with 'Hindi' (language)?
Is it a lack of awareness/ ignorance or typo?
I have seen a lot of people confusing Hindu with Hindi - both are different (a Hindu may or maynot speak Hindi - they can speak Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali etc)
5 AnswersLanguages2 decades agoParents, any suggestions/ tips on how to make kids excel in basic reading, writing and arithmetics skills?
As mosts parents struggle to find ways to help kids cope with keeping up with increasing schoolwork these days while finding enough time to play, pursue other hobbies, or enjoy simple pleasures of childhood, they would still like to know how to secure their children's future.
