What does the interjection "Man!" sound like to you?

Something a hippie would say? American English? Does it have a 70s ring? Does today's youth use it? I would welcome your impressions and if you have any idea when it started being used like that.

It started in the 60's or 50's and is still being used today though not as much as it was 30 years ago.

Source(s): Me, mother of 2 sons, 21 & 23, they both use that word.

I think it comes form the Simpson's...

Aye carumba, man, doh!... It's just used in place of darn it or crap... I'd assume. I'd say it dates back to the 80's.
