    They are comic operas - better known as operettas: "a short opera, usually of a light and amusing character."

    As for why you like Poor Wandering One, maybe because it's a lovely song?!

    I too am a fan of G&S. Personally I like "With Cat Like Tread" from Pirates best.

    Because it's Talk Like a Pirate Day today.

    I have some of the musical scores from the Doyle Carte opera Company. I just love all the Operettas Gilbert and Sullivan collaborated on. especially the a poor wondering boy am I in tatters..all that it matters..Wonderful stuff. What a shame they fell out over a trifle.

    Maybe you are a poor wandering boy and can empathise with this character?

    GILBERT AND SULLIVAN comic OPERA

    which word does not fit in this sentance?

    {i was forced to sit through the Mikado and 'Pirates of Penzance' as a youth. I was bored to tears and have an abiding dislike. I don't see anything funny about G&S works at all.......and dont get me started on (grand) opera}
