  • Make acid free Momigami paper for scrapbooking?

I am on a course making momigami paper for embroidery. I would love to use this paper for scrapbooking but the method we are using is to put cooking oil on our hands then crumple the sheets. Oil contains fatty acids. Does anyone know of any other method?

I have found alternatives on the net such as tapioca starch, arrowroot or konnyaku (devil's tongue root) but I suspect these may acidic too.

  • Invisible thread danger to babies?

I am making a baby quilt and the tutor told me when I was halfway through that I should not be using invisible thread as it dangerous for babies. I 've tried searching and found a few items that say it is a choking hazard. This seems a bit unlikely to me. I guessed any danger would be that a loose thread might wrap around a limb or neck. I am handstitching with invisible thread because my stitching is very uneven and didn't look good in cotton thread. I am using small stab stitches not running stitches and have anchored and fastened off the thread very thorougly. I don't want to unpick and redo all my work if there is no real danger but obviously I don't want to endanger a baby either. Does anyone have any expert information on this?

  • Are Amazon bad employers?

I spend a lot on books with Amazon but am dismayed to read that they have brought in The Burke Group to prevent their warehousemen forming a union. Does anyone work there and know how well they treat their workers. They made an incredible profit last year.

  • Jack (Jean) Le Billon died Pearl Harbour 1941?

My sister is researching our family tree and has heard a story that our great uncle died at Pearl Harbour. His name was Jean Le Billon but he changed his name to Jack when he went to live in America because his name was being mispronounced as the female name Jean. He was a seaman and travelled all over the world. He once brought a monkey back from his travels and it ended up on the Hood which was sunk by the Bismark.

  • Pattern for knitting scarf with persons name?

I would like to knit a scarf for someone who has been very helpful to me and as he is an extrovert type of guy I thought it would be nice to knit his name along the length of the scarf.

Does anyone know of a pattern to do this. I don't mind paying for it as it will save me time experimenting.

I have found a few patterns for knitted alphabets but I am not sure if they will be in proportion sideways since I will be knitting up from the short edge of the scarf.

  • Treasure boxes made with Creative Expressions rubber stamp?

If you have made any have you tried turning the side flaps outwards and gluing them together instead of gluing them to the inside of the box? Does this work? I think it might but they would need tape or paper stuck across the join inside to strengthen it.

  • Request receipt.......when message deleted?

I had an obvious junk 'work from home' e-mail ($ not sterling) and did the usual block sender & deleted. When I came to empty deleted items a message came up saying a receipt had been requested sent to nerdshack.com when message is deleted.

Options Yes, Yes to All, No, No to All, Cancel.

Message appears to be from Microsoft but is it? Is it safe to press No? There appears to be no other way to send it to recycling.

A painter was commissioned to paint 'Custer's Last Thoughts' for a gala event. With much fooforaw the painting was unveiled to show in one corner fish with halos over their heads and opposite a lot of Native American having sex in various positions. After the gasps of shock the painter was asked to explain and said "Well I figure his last thought was, Holy mackerel where did all those effing indians come from'.
