Are bright green corduroy trousers a criminal offence if worn in public?

A friend recently sported a pair - I find them positively horrible - especially when he told me how expensive they were.

Update:

I made sure that I left the house without him...

Nick them off your mate & send them to Billy Connoly, he's the only bloke I know who can get away with wearing things like your mates green trousers

Not if they are worn by a man and teamed up with a Cerise Pink Frilly shirt, White Cowboy Boots, worn outside the trousers, and an orange trilby hat.

Any other combination is completely offensive.

If your filling in an enhanced CRB form, then you have to declare it on your application form. The CRB will list every offence, caution, fine you've ever received regardless of the time elapsed. But if it's just for a 'normal' job, then the offence becomes 'spent' after a period of 7yrs,which means you wouldn't have to declare it. If you were under 18 at the time of the offence then the offence becomes 'spent' after 3.5yrs. Hope that helps

Wearing them would be a breach of the peace, or possibly would be classed as behaviour likely to cause offense. However, burglers and muggers never, ever wear them, as they can't move around un-noticed.

I am afraid that they are. I hereby deputise you to make a fashion arrest. It's for his own good.

And let him know that price does not equal taste. I am sure that Elvis spent alot on those rhinestone jumpsuits.....

It's not a criminal offence per say, but it is quite ugly.
