  • Is she right to be narked? Or am I wrong to be trying to move on?

I spent 6 months getting to know a girl only to be given the brush off and to be told by her that she is too busy to see me in the next few weeks. I think it is time to move on - she has made her lack of interest quite clear. However she claims to be narked that I was seen talking to another girl the night before - this after she claimed to have no time to see me, but has met up for evenings out with my friends. I think I should just move on, and enjoy myself with this new girl, and see if she (the one who claims to be too busy) bats an eyelid.

  • I'd had a funny feeling that I had not heard the last of my ex.?

I split up on 1st January 2006, and saw her twice during 2006 - to return stuff of hers that was in my flat and to also get her to sign all the cancellation forms necessary for insurance etc. She phoned sporadically but I had no contact with her since August. Suddenly she is back in town (she move overseas shortly before we broke up) and is pestering me to see me - calling me three times this afternoon - withheld number on my business line. How should I best tell her that I don't want to see her and don't understand why she is pestering me?

  • How can I get someone I know to stop interrupting the whole time?

I get incredibly annoyed at people interrupting me when I am talking - especially when their interjections are not cogent and barely coherent. I have passed the comment before now asking them if they would not mind interrupting me the whole time, but it appears not to register with them. Recently the case in hand came to me cap in hand begging for me to help him find employment. I got him an interview with a friend who phoned me afterwards saying that had he not interrupted the whole time and not seemed to listen to what she was saying, she would have considered employing him. Any suggestions less than tarring and feathering him, to get him to realise he is not helping himself and is offending those people who are trying to help him?

  • Is this appropriate for a Valentine's day date?

I am dating a girl and want to go out on 14th February. My plan is to take her out for dinner, with a decent bottle of wine and to give her some sunflowers and a DVD or two, and a couple of small plesents. We are only platonic friends, and I wish to show her that I do care, and cherish her friendship.

  • How should I respond?

A girl who I am very close to, but who has expressed that she can not have a relationship for the time being, as she is still getting over her last long-term relationship suggested that I and some friends go away for a weekend together. After initial enthusiasm they are all falling by the wayside. I don't want her to feel pressurised that she has to go away just with me for the weekend, although we are going away for six days together in April. Should I perhaps suggest that we don't go if it is a weekend alone together. I really want to go on the trip - she has put a lot of effort into it, and I want to then have a reason to take her away for a weekend to thank her for her efforts.

  • How can you prove to a girl that you respect her and will not hurt her like all the others?

I know a lovely girl with very low self-esteem and self-confidence due to the fact that she has always been treated so badly by her past boyfriends - consequently she is very wary of men - and understandably so. We have a very good friendship but I would like to take it further, but think she still needs confirmation that I am not going to be like her exes - I genuinely care for her, and am therefore biding my time, treating her well and trying to make her realise that I do respect her and cherish her friendship and want to make her happy.

  • I go out frequently with one girl in particular and we have a platonic friendship?

We buy each other presents, spend lots of evenings together and get on really well as friends. We have both agreed that at this point in time that a relationship is not a possibility - for various reasons. Why does everyone therefore presume we are an item? I am getting fed up with being asked what is happening between us, and am sure she is getting the same thing happen to her. How can we make it clear that we are good friends some that we can enjoy our friendship without external pressures...?

  • Why do I feel happier as a single guy with a lot of good platonic female friends?

It is a strange thing, but I have a lot of very good platonic friendships, but am single but really don't feel the need to change that. I feel more fulfilled than I did when I was in my last relationship - and more motivated to get in shape and enjoy life. However I can't explain why... I can't help feeling happy and upbeat the whole time, how come?

  • Do you think that NLP can help you make someone want to have a relationship with you?

I have been reading Neil Strauss' book, The Game. Some of the techniques says pick-up artists use are effectively NLP based. I get the impression from the book that this might work in trying to pick up someone you don't know, but would be surprised if thesame tactics would work on someone you already know. What do people think?

  • Policing employee websurfing?

I have a student who I have an agreement with that after work she can use the Internet in the office for private websurfing. The problem is that the trust is being abused and she surfs a lot during work. Is there a freeware application I could install that would block the sites she visits a lot that are not essential for her work during working hours.

  • How can I get her to take a bit more of the initiative?

I am dating a very pleasant lady, and am very happy to be dating her - we have lots of fun together and evenings out and always enjoy each others company. The obly thing is that I seem to take the lion's share of the initiative - suggesting places to meet and go out too. This is probably because I know the city we live in better - having lived here longer and just generally knowing the city well. Things are cool are they are, but I think in order to take things further I need her to take a bit more initiative. How do you think I can get this to happen?

  • Are charm bracelets old-fashioned?

I was talking to a friend who was looking for a special present for his girlfriend (they've been together for about 9 months) and I suggested a charm bracelet - and a charm or two, and more at regular intervals. Is a charm bracelet considered old-fashioned or unsuitable gifts for girlfriends. I think they are quite a thoughtful gift - especially if you choose the charms carefully to build up a "picture" of your girlfriend's life - e.g. charms that symbolize where she comes from, has lived, her work, her interests, her achievements etc.

  • Christmas is coming and I don't know what to get the girl I am dating...?

We''ve been on quite a few dates but I am taking things slowly because I think she still needs time after a nasty break-up. To date I've bought her assorted small gifts (a scarf, chocolates, sunflowers, hand-made soaps, fruit teas, a DVD, tickets to the cinema) but am not sure what to get her for Christmas. Any bright ideas - no sick answers please...
