Mega Mosque in London......?

lets clarify the situ churches in Britain are not and have never been payed for by the tax payer and don't see gov paying for now and ever so yes if my British Muslim friends want mosque pay for yourselves and if gov do pay will be shocked and they wont get my vote now or forever this is Britain its christian and not going to be coerced into being an Islamic state now or ever your welcome but don't push it..PS we do have large places of worship and small and we are not forced to go there but they are there for us when we feel the need to thank god for our blessings and god doesn't want prayer 5 times aday once is sufficient if you mean it ....

It seems very sensible to have a mosque, and if a large space is needed and can be afforded by the worshipping community, led by responsible people and preachers, what's the problem? (The article says nothing about taxpayers paying for the mosque - taxpayers fund the planning body which has to decide on any development but that's a different matter). I would hope that the Olympic development would include a substantial church too, and sufficient provision for other religions.

One answer suggests that the government/taxpayer funds churches: it doesn't, your cash is safe. Churches are maintained by their worshipping community, despite the huge contribution they make to the UK heritage "industry".

One more of the things that'll have the English throw them out!

After the London Train Bombings, their Hate Rallies and the general violence against Hindus and Christians there, the Muslims are not really the most loved people in England, today.

Thier continued antagonism will force the English, someday, to retaliate by throwing the whole lot out of England, mark my words!

Frankly, I find the majority of the Muslims have a problem with their attitudes which are not welcome anywhere.

Undeniably, there are a few Muslims who are level headed, like the lady below me and some other whom I've seen here like Adia and Roshni, and who are trying to integrate with their new host Countries and the people around them; but the majority, as you can see from the responses below, are the type who behave so atrociously that everyone wants all of them to leave and short of being kicked out, they refuse to learn proper manners.

People say that this kind are in the minority among the Muslims, but, I'm sorry, I find this attitude in the majority.

That's why there's so much of anti-Muslim sentiment going around and it's growing to a pitch where it'll soon end up with these people being kicked out of all non-Islamic Countries and probably in the Third Worl War.

Y are they building this u ask? Becos its actually gna be used, unlike churches and synagogues that are barely used and gathering dust and empty, muslims need more mosques and biggers ones due to the need to have them there in order for 5daily prayers -- especially friday prayer when it gets packed.

So the need is there so therefore should be built....

Can I just make one thing clear to you and the first person that answered your question. There are extremists that take things too far in every religion not just islam. Take the IRA for example. The protestants in christianity. The Tamil tigers in hindism.

So britain has tasted extremists from Islam. Well I'm a muslim and I can tell you now that as a Sunni muslim (the most common type) I KNOW that suicide is NOT aloud in islam and those that did the train bombings will be dealt with by god. However, this does not mean that all muslims are bad. Im not. They are a minority. The word islam means PEACE and those few that want to make it seem like a violent religion are sick in the head. So before you go and steriotype any muslim, get your bloody facts right or don't sat anything at all.

Secondly, you all boast that your country is multicultural and your proud of it, so why get your nickers in a knot about a mosque being built? My taxes that I pay are keeping your churches and other religious buildings open and constructed and even your countrys immoral things like lapdancing clubs and mini gambling casinos. Think I like that? Think I like paying for that? Think again.

I am ashamed to say but I am not very happy about this. If you reversed the situation how would a middle eastern country feel if we built a Mega Christian church and they had to pay for . I somehow don't think they would be too pleased about it.

Everyone has the right to worship their god. If other religions in the UK had such a large following or congregation, as Islam has, then no doubt there would be large churches erected everywhere.

But they aren't, due to the nature of the world we live in.

Islam is a religion that is passed down through the generations, and you are fearful to stray from it, whereas christianity is more laid back in these days.

Who in this world has the right to tell someone their religion is wrong, and not worthy of a place to worship?

Dont judge the majority by the evil of the minority.

Islam is a very paeceful religion, and only splinter groups are giving this religion a bad name.

Do you care that there are Catholic churches in London? Or Buddhist temples? Jewish synagogues? Any other type of religious structure? I doubt it. Stop being a bigot and show some tolerance.
