Questions about the Phil & Teds Explorer 3 pushchair (ideally required in red).?

We are expecting a second child when our first will be 27 months. My wife has been researching push chairs for ages and set her heart on the Phil & Teds Explorer 3 (ideally in red).

We want to buy new. It is worth mentioning we do not have a car so rely mostly on public transport with the odd taxi or life.

Answers and opinions in relation to the following will be most welcome: -

1. Have you experience of using this model, what do you see as the pros and cons. In particular, I read that the back seat can be dangerous as children can put their fingers in the wheels.

For UK based only:

2. Where is the best value to buy this chair and the attachment to make it take two children as well as the cacoon accessory. We originally saw it in Mothercare but it looks cheaper on the net.

3. If recommending an Internet supplier can you vouch for their reputation - I have limited and mostly negative experience of Internet shopping.

Thanks to any and all who respond.

I'm a nanny and 4 months pregy myself. i love this pushchair because i might return to work with my own kid.

I spoke to countless people and everybody is happy with it

-someone said raincover steamed up-that happens on almost al;l the buggys I've ever wheeled around-5-6

-it might be heavy but do chech the weight of any double-not much difference there

bumping down-up stairs fine weight distributed on the back wheel

the only bore ive heard of and you'll get that with any inflatable tyre pushchair-punctures-guess what check your buggy before getting organised 2 go out if puncture pump up-take to local bike shop or pushchair shop will repair 4 £2-4

my sister in law had one of these...for all of 1 day then took it bk, i'll list why

    1) the front wheel fell off (might just b how she put it 2gther tho)

    2) she didn't want to put the rain cover on as it started to steam up a lil in there!!

    3) bloody nightmare gettn 3 wheelers on buses (if ur in london, the underground has lifts, but only 4 disabled ppl, literally ONLY disabled...love 2 kno how the fink u'd get a buggy dwn there, or arent u ment 2? dnt live in london so wuldn't kno)

    4) our nephew's pram toys kept gettn caught in the wheels, so i'd assume that yes, lil fingers CAN get caught in the bk wheels.

    5) can u imagin the arguments when ur kids r older? "i wana sit in the bk" " no i wana sit in the bk" etc....

i can see where ur coming from, buses don't accomodate for twin buggies at all, so something like this is pretty much a only option. i've seen one on ebay (just search double pushchair, it'll pop up, toys r us might do 'em actually) the same kind of buggy, but the back seats has slightly higher sides, and although it looks like a 3 wheeler, its actually a 4 wheeler, with the frount 2 wheels very close 2gether, making it more stable when gettn on n off the bus.

really hope this helped u, can vouch for any internet sites sorry, i always have a nightmare with them too!!

perhaps your oldest should walk by the time the new baby comes, get them used to it because if you don't you will be pushing them round when they're going to school along with a dummy. i've seen it happen, anyway whats wrong with secondhand why waste money on something you may not use again when someone can provide you with a pram as good as new. you never use them half as much as you thing you will !!. never had a problem with internet shopping but a reputable company like mothercare should respond if you have any problems. stick with what you know.

the pram is expensive and you wont use it once your youngest wants to sit up and see.they are heavy too and what if you get a puncture/..they are a pain in the ****....im expecting a baby in sept so i have looked on ebay and there is a tandem that is no larger than a normal buggy..its £99, light, and when my baby want to sit up it can and my eldest is in the front so can not touch my baby (like side by side prams)....expensive prams are not always worth the money, and if your like me you will get bored of it and when my eldest is walking properly they are no good then too.

its up to you but think about it..prams are a fashion accessory and you dont always get value for money..also something else to consider is the weight of the pram, and two heavy children!
