How old are children in year 2 in the UK education system?

I don't understand it since it changed!

    they are 6 going on 7.

    my daughter is in year 2.

    They start at Reception (4 - 5)

    then year 1 (5-6)

    then year 2 (6-7)

    and so on

    They are 6 going on 7. Reception is age 4 - 5, Year 1, 5 - 6. My daughter is in Year 1 and turned 6 in March

    Add 5 to the age of the child to find out what age they will be at the end of that specific school year.

    They start off six and end up seven
