It depends whether you just want to move over for a working holiday or for good. I lived there a few years ago on a working visa, but although I had a ruck of qualifications they weren't recognized in Oz and employers were generally put off by the fact that I was on a temporary visa so I couldn't get a permanent job. The only way I achieved this was to join a couple of temping agencies who kept me in work to pay the rent. I also took on an early morning cleaning job so I could make sure that I had money just in case there was no temp contract. In recent times one of my friends went over and did fruit picking whilst the other did bar work. I reckon if you're going on a temporary visa, you should take a totally different job than what you're used to - it's all part of the experience!! Look at www.immi.gov.au for some pointers.
