Is my gearbox about to fail?

The gear change on my manual Renault has become really sloppy, especially between 2nd and 3rd. gearbox going? The car has done 100,000 mainly motorway miles and the gears go in very cleanly, just a lot of movement and vagueness in the lever

If you can change gears very smoothly then there is nothing wrong with the transmission. Your problem will most likely be worn out bushings &/or linkages

The problem may be worn gear selection linkage outside of the gearbox

sounds like play in the gear selector on some renaults you can buy a bush kit to cure it.
