Anyone had problems with Nationwide Autocentres?

Anyone know of regular problems with Nationwide Autocentres, they took a car belonging to a friend of mine in for MOT, insisted it needed new brakes and wheel bearings, charged him £600 and didnt even keep the parts as proof!!!

Anyone had similar problems with these people?

Totally agree with above - have had similar problems myself. Have also read reports from other motorists complaining about this garage group which continues to tell people that things need doing very quickly when, actually, nothing is wrong.

Took my car in for service and MOT in March 06. Was told that a new complete exhaust system was needed "very soon" - they said they would pass the vehicle MOT but wanted me to make appointment for the exhaust replacement. Next day I took car to Kwik Fit and asked for an exhaust check - they said system was 100% and nothing needed doing.

In March 07 took vehicle to a garage (NOT Nationwide) for annual service and MOT. Passed MOT with no problem - a YEAR after Nationwide said that exhaust needed replacement !

Have reported these facts to AA who endorse Nationwide - AA have said they have received nothing but good reports about Nationwide.

Please e-mail AA and tell them about your views on Nationwide.

    No.

I've used them on a number of occasions, and found them very professional, and much cheaper than Kwik-Fit - they have been cheapest for tyres the last three times I've shopped around.

thank-you for the heads up on them. we've never used them, but also steer clear of pep boys. they supposedly replaced rotors and tie rods on our stratus then less than a year later, it needed them again.
