Windows live, can't view friends webcam?

Since I updated windows live messenger a couple of months ago, I haven't been able to view my friens webcams. I have tried a few different friends cams and they don't have this problem with any other contact so it must be something in my settings. I have tried to reinstall messenger but that doesn't help. I don't have a webcam myself but that shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Please don't tell me to use Skype or Yahoo instead like I have seen on other similar questions here I want to use windows live messenger.

Update:

I forgot to say that I do get the webcam invites and I can click the webcam icon. It starts normally like everything is ok but then it's just "connecting" forever.

No I have never used AOL so that shouldn't be the problem.

Update 2:

I'm using the same router as I did before when everything was working. Could it still be a router problem? I have a ZyXEL C94 router. Thanks for your tips everyone.

Many times, you need to use the tool Port Forward. It is found at www.portforward.com. There are specific settings for each router and they are all listed at this website. Again, some people can or cannot see you, but it will all be solved with the Port Forward website. Please be prepared to write down the directions or print them off, as they are quite lengthy.

I would print them here, but I don't know the kind or router you have....or if it is on your friend's side, what kind of router they have. Nevertheless, all of the routers are listed at this website.

    Good Luck!

have a look at your contact list, if your friend is online then right click on their name and you should see the option to view their webcam. sounds a bit of a strange problem though cos i always thought that when a person wants to share webcam with you it will come up in the message window to say do you want to accept or not. hope this helps
