Smartboard for English classes.?
Hi, my school has just bought its first smartboard, and as you could imagine, everyone is very excited. The problem is all the IT techno dudes have taken possession of the thing, with the rest of us waiting our turn. Admin says that once we demonstrate a neccessity for the smartboard in the English classroom, English teachers will be able to use it. So, my question: Can anybody suggest some creative, effective English strategies or lessons that could be conducted in a smartboard environment? Thanks.

Hi, you didn't specify what grade/s you need the resources for, but below are a couple of sites that I have used before in English on my Smartboard, all which focus on basic literacy. I've used the lessons to teach content, for educational games and for extension for fast finishers. If you Google 'Smartboard Resources' or 'Interactive Whiteboard Resources', there's a stack of stuff available that people have put online - it's just a matter of sorting through it to find what suits your kids and specific lesson. The kids seem to like all of them because it's something different and very interactive. I also bring up stories (eg. choose your own adventure) to model different genre that the students then extend on, and they love these lessons. Hope this helps.
